Yes, abandoned. Caught in a crash and had to go away in an ambulance.

Bernie's eyesore said:The best tactic was to give him a good leadout. The only time in this race they tried that he beat all of the riders in today's stage. Leave him alone and his positioning is woeful.
GuyIncognito said:No, they didn't. Bouhanni is quite a good climber, he has top 10s in uphill finishes.
Not being an idiot, he was sitting about 20th wheel to save energy, while Swift was sitting at the front burning himself out and got swallowed up and spit out when the pace quickened even before the crash.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Flamin said:If Swift felt he had more chance to win the stage by waiting for the sprint, don't you think Sky would have listened to him?
There was a split at about 3.5k to go. Bouhanni was definitely behind it.
Kwibus said:Lol, when he went down on a straight road I directly thought of this post. Spot on .
Really had to laugh when it happened. I mean the crash sucks, but cmon Farrar... I also feel kinda sorry for him though...
RedheadDane said:It kinda looked like Farrar just randomly decided to jump off his bike...

Kwibus said:There was a split behind the first 10 riders. There were more small splits on the downhill, but no real time gaps.
Flamin said:First group was easily 20-25 riders. Then Lotto dragged the 2nd group back.
Looking back at it, tactics were fine imo but the execution was poor. Cataldo dropping Eisel and Sutton, EBH pulls too hard and gaps the peloton,...
VeloHuman said:Nizzolo isn't learning from his mistakes. He never times his move correctly. Another cushy leadout from a rival sprinter for Bouhanni.
On Trek's website, he said that he chose the tactic because he cannot match Bouhanni's speed unless he anticipates and begins the sprint. In the next sentence, he complained that the "sprint was too long" for him. Tiny contradiction, but it's clear that Bouhanni's faster, even Matthews got really close to him.VeloHuman said:Nizzolo isn't learning from his mistakes. He never times his move correctly.
