We said it last year, Aru was and is NOT a GT contender, but everybody laughed.

I believe Kruijswijk had some disease which is why he underperformed for years after his nice Giro + Suisse stage win.

Kruijswijk actually was the most promising Dutch talent climbing wise back in 2011! Maybe he's finally found back his spirit. He's very aggressive again! Clearly a huge difference to the shyness of Gesink and Mollema!
I remember the stage he won in Tour de Suisse 2011. This Giro has marked his rebirth as a GC rider, crowning it with a top 10 in GC.

It's more his return as a climber ain't it? This Giro shows perfectly how he should race and where he should focus on!

Hopefully he nets the stage and the mountains jersey! :)

Contador not taking any risks on the descent.

I guess we're gonna see Landa VS Contador for the rest of the week.

Come on.. He was ill before the race, so he missed 2 preparation races. He is paying for that now. He wasn't prepared for 3 weeks of racing.

(and saves energy for the TOUR)

Honestly think today really threw a wrench in saving his energy. In the end the Giro will be over once today's stage ends (even if Landa manages to take time) but he probably spent more energy than he planned to the rest of the Giro.

That being said I haven't a clue how he will recover, his physiology is so different from most it's hard to predict what he'll be like when they start right here in Utrecht.

I've missed a few minutes of watching. Trofimov just dropped Hesjedal or something did happen to Ryder?

Trofimov makes his move...

...and it's gone.
After Hejsedal had pulled him for most of the climb and was eating.
And now he has dropped him and is trying to catch the top 3. ARGH!

I think he'll catch them too.
And perhaps winning. The most anti-climatic victory on such a great stage.

yep we could have seen AC attacked and left Landa. Now,.. it's a survival mode for AC. He just need to keep Landa at leash. Worry about wining stage later.

Contador & Landa dropped the very soul of Aru on Morti- I kind of sensed that, but man - I thought the Angel might offer some resistance...

You missed a lot more than that. You missed Contador put in a brilliant solo chase up the Mortirolo

sh!t - I must watch it after work.

Such a shame Landa/Kruijswijk had to wait for Aru for so long.

They took almost 2 minutes on Aru in half the Mortirolo, so it would have been a lot harder to get back to Landa on his own.

Obviously it wouldn't have changed the podium in Milan, but it would have shown just how deep Contador could go.

Taking back 50 seconds on today's Aru isn't as impressive as it looked like it would be when we started the Mortirolo.

That I'm not sure of. I can't see him beating Landa, and Contador would certainly expend all his energy just to make sure he beat someone from Katusha.
