This is ridiculous. They put on this stage and have no idea how to broadcast it with low visibility. It's a freaking mountain, weather is usually bad up there!

Cycling has such low production standards it's ridiculous. Rcs is one of the best in cycling, but have no clue how to get things done and provide images and context.

How about a simple live timing device for viewing rider positions on the net?
Noo that would mean innovation.

Aaaarrgh!

I know it's frustating, but organising a bike race and giving us images all the time is one hell of a job. Specially at high altitude in the cold/snow/fog.
It's not a stadium sport...

It's not like we're missing anything atm. If we're lucky they're only going to race the last ramp on the final climb.

Then why plan live coverage if nothing is supposed to happen?

ps.. I think important things are happening as we speak...

I know but doesn't it seem ridiculous that they are sending colonies of people to mars to build a town, yet can't get tv images in 2000 metre climbs.

No wait, they were getting the dog to bark for who was going to win.

He said Aru.

Good Omen:cool:

Vinoattackseveryone will be happy

I hope one day, some f@ked up cycling fans, come to the morning tv show with baseball bats and pull a clockwork-orange show (not to the people) but al least knock down the cameras, chairs, microphones, pink stuff around, the barking dog , the umbrellas and so on :D :p )

I know it's not simple compared to flat stages. But these difficulties should be quite easy to overcome.

Planes and helicopters have the ability to fly without visibility even in the mountains. It just takes advanced equipment(which costs more).

Also, one would think they had learned something from last year.

Costs are very high and cycling unfortunately isn't that RICH, besides the TdF.

The problem is not the TV, its the choppers that relay the feed. Rather dangerous to say the least for a chopper to fly into cloud when those clouds have big rocks (mountains) inside.

Low Cloud/Rain/Sleet/Snow = No choppers can fly and they have to rely on fixed cameras.

The solution of course would be to have a repeater tower every km - bit expensive though.

It's not that much more expensive. It's most likely about going to a different company and thinking a little bit out of the box.

But since we now have liveish coverage, perhaps we can postpone this discussion?;)
