Will he break his lag, or riding backwards, or something?

I'm assuming he will pull a Wiggo, stop riding and get so angry he tosses his bike on the 13-14% section. Thereafter, he closes his psychotic break by climbing up the leg of a tifosi like a Koala bear at which point he starts munching away.

It could happen.

Check this out, I think this is right. There are thirteen Colombian riders remaining in the Giro, and they all have at least one point in the Mountains classification.

1. Julián David Arredondo Moreno—173
4. Robinson Chalapud—69
5. Nairo Quintana—56
6. Jarlinson Pantano Gomez—43
7. Fabio Duarte—41
22. Rigoberto Uran—15
32. Carlos Quintero—10
34. Miguel Angel Rubiano—9
49. Rodolfo Andres Torres Agudelo—3
55. Winner Anacona Gomez—2
60. Jeffry Romero—2
63. Sebastian Henao Gomez—1
66. Leonardo Duque—1

let's see if uran and omega kept something in the stock for this one

i regard this the stage where we gonna see the biggest gaps of this giro between the favourites. i fear that rolland will lose quite a lot sadly :( nairo will most likely destroy this. if he wants to. aru to come second

I'll even make an avatar bet, and make it easy on whomever wants to bite: Rolland, not in the top ten ITT finishers, Evans not in the top 20 ITT finishers.

If you'd offered this yesterday, I would have taken you up on the Evans bet, but he really did look like he was fading today, didn't he? I mean, in general form, not just on that last climb in particular.

What's an "avatar bet?"

Looking at the GC and the remaining stages, I'd say that barring accident, illness, or other untoward circumstance, the top ten is set. There'll be some shuffling in the exact order, of course.

Pretty obvious. Vuillermoz isn't exactly going to put in 8 mins on Kiserlovski

When you bet with someone whoever wins can choose what the other person has to have for an avatar (my avatars for example is froome on ventoux) for a.certain amount of time.

K. Deal. If Rolland is.in top 10 or Evans in top 20 I choose your avatar. It remains until the tour. You up for it???

What he said.

Evans just looks like his spirit is broken now, so I think it will probably be a slippery slope for him.

Sure! It'll be fun! Ill have to back check your post's to figure out what will be the most embarrasing image XD

Ah, I see. That's a fun way to make bets here, for sure.

Something somebody said upthread here (I think it was in this thread) about the fading of the USA and Great Britain in this Giro made me curious about the international flavor of the peloton, which seems vibrant and healthy to look at the standings.

Thirty nations started with riders in this year's edition, and twenty-six nations still had riders at the end of today. Those countries without any participants left each started with only one rider present. They were:

Belarus, Team Sky's Kanstantsin Siutsou, DNF Stage 14
Norway, Team Sky's Edvald Boasson Hagen, DNS Stage 16
Panama, Neri Sottoli's Ramon Carretero Marciacq, DNF Stage 7
Sweden, Team Giant-Shimano's Tobias Ludvigsson, DNF Stage 12 ITT
