I don't get it, is it a different climb than an hour ago? They're saying on Eurosport that the last 4k are super steep?

They're not climbing it all the way to the top second time around, finish is right after the steepest part

Does anyone here remember the stage last year to Gardeccia? Contador, who had the race won, attacked on the third to last climb with over 50km to go. Epic, exciting, wonderful stage. Say what you will about tactics, but professional bike racing is for the spectators. When you are 15km from the third to last stage in a GT and nothing memorable has happened then the race has been a failure. Whether it is the organizers or the riders, there has been little excitement so far in this Giro.

Bring back Contador!
If that was an attack there certainly was a lot of attacks on Giau this year. He closed the gap to Arroyo and Rodriguez and nothing more.

It's the same, just finishes 3 kms before the top, where the steep part ends

The problem is that, while you can do things like ban race radios, you can't really ban professionalism and organisation. The wild days of the 1970s aren't coming back.

The 1970s were far from wild in the sense that you're picturing it.

Teamwork was pretty much the same as it is today back in Merckx's times.

Only difference is that riders had balls and the routes were good.

last year there wasn't such a problem. Race radios were there, though

Last year the race was over after the first mountain stage with 2nd-5th doing exactly what's happening now and that was superior??? I'm so confused.

I didn't. Even I wasn't expecting this.

The parcours of this stage is so hard that they can't all stay together until the last 2 km. We might have epic attacks from 5 km to go.

Ok. I go with the guy who said 2 km. ;) Hope we can come back to this later...

Why is Kangert still trying to stay in the group.. thought he would just drop back after Kreuziger attacked and do some work tomorrow.

This is "when men were men" nonsense, I"m afraid. They weren't carrying bigger balls, so much as they were less professional and less organised.
