Earlier attacks are pointless. Nobody who has attacked today will win the stage, that is almost a fact, and I dont think any GC contender is strong enough to succeed had he attacked. It will be resolved in the last climb, as in 99% of GT mountain stages.

I checked back on the rules and found nothing.

Yes, me also searched for some keywords, but nothing relevant.

I think Indurain was penalised for taking a bottle from a rival team-car in his last Tour.

It was then long time ago, so who knows that those rules still valid. EDIT: as I saw it was not because of that.

Hinault years were very controlled! Anyway, here we go for the climb, 7.7km, only, hum...

there were attacks before 1990...

the differences between the top were much bigger pre 1990.
Now everyone is close together in level.. very very different

in 1990 F1 qualifying races difference was often a second between nr 1 and 2... wha'ts it now?

sport evolves

That was because it was in the last km's of that stage, not because it was from a different team. btw, that bottle (given by the gewiss team) was empty (Indurain threw it away immediately).

Okay got you. He'd blown completely at that point hadn't he?

11 km to go and we still have time to talk about the Giro at large because not much is happening. Yep. One for the ages.

I am not even watching. Just listening to the commentators. Did you write yesterday, that no attacks (from contenders) will come until 2 kms to go today? If so, hats up.

Jesus Christ, this again?

CHARLY MOTTET WAS AN AGGRESSIVE RIDER

OK, I'm sorry if I repeated something that's already been said, I don't read every single goddamn post on this forum, you know. Just getting sick of 90% of the posts here being *****ing and whining. Don't like the race? Think it's boring? Go outside, ride a bike, go fishing FFS, but please just shut the **** up with the whining

EPO and attacks are really different.
We're just asking something we had last year, the year before, and so on.
Before EPO races were won by hours.

OK, fair enough that you don't necesarrily want Robobasso, 2010 Basso would be enough. And OK, fair enough they might have ****ed the route up this year, can't always be great. But please, just enjoy what you got, life's too short to be *****ing all the time

May i missed something. I had the impression you like that BS. Now i am relieved. ;)

Just had a look at the Vuelta route. Omg, you are right... no GT´s this year.

I was just challenging your criticiseing the route. It's not that bad, beside its backloading (and the chronical lack of TTing)

pre-epo days wasn't as controlled racing either. different times.

Yeah, I think that's the point. Now, the race is won on graph paper with a calculator in the team car.

Seems like 90% of the forum members want to bring the EPO back, so that we can have epic attacks sticking from 100km from the finish, moreover the same members would then proceed to the "Clinic" subsection and ***** about riders being dirty

80s? Epo? :confused::confused::confused:

This is wrong in so many ways.

A strong case can be made that team radios are part of the problem.

I didn't. Even I wasn't expecting this.

The parcours of this stage is so hard that they can't all stay together until the last 2 km. We might have epic attacks from 5 km to go.

The problem is that, while you can do things like ban race radios, you can't really ban professionalism and organisation. The wild days of the 1970s aren't coming back.

I don't get it, is it a different climb than an hour ago? They're saying on Eurosport that the last 4k are super steep?

How many people are there left in the peloton? 25? 30?

And that's 6kms from the finish, after a myriad of monster climbs.

Worst joke ever.

Well, I want the 80's back too, you know. I was a child full of hopes, the grass was greener, sky was bluer, the sun was brighter, the life was better, and so was the racing.
