Gilbert starts like a rocket
GILBERT Philippe (165) came out of the starting game with his afterburners on. At the kilometre 10 checkpoint, his time was 11:51, a shocking 31 seconds faster than previous leader BODNAR Maciej (133).

Gilbert testing himself one final time for the worlds? :)

they've showed mosquera and sanchez warming up. i doubt we'll see evans or basso.

I doubt we will see much of them actually doing the time trial, they are cutting here and there.

A lot of people liked vino before he tested positive
And many didn't. Seems you and your fellow countryman msjett are mistaking my dislike of the man for not recognizing the man's talent. I expect Cadel to be standing on the podium tomorrow; he is a much better TTer than Basso. And if he does podium, it will be interesting to see how he reacts.

I didn't realise that riding GT's and other races was about winning fans, silly me, I thought it was about winning the race.
That is a facile statement... Having acknowledged Cadel's obvious talent, I've moved on to his personality, and that was my point to acf94.

Countrywoman....hence msjett not mrjett...lol

There are quite a few riders I think are talented, and I don't like their personalities....I just don't bang on about.;)

Rabobank riders should first learn to ride a bike and than come to a Big TOur, rember Rasmussen, Menchov and now Gesink, I feel sory for all of them, hope to do better in yers to come.

I hope Evans can get 2nd today, he`s really unlucky.

I wondered that - but I've found men tend to be more sensitive when refered to as a woman than vice versa.;)

Back to the race, I've no sense how each will fare other than Cadel besting Basso and Valverde holding on to the top spot. Seeing as Valverde starts in 2min, we will know in 37+/-...

True....bit edge of the seat for me...I don't mind Basso and wouldn't be upset if he kept his place....am interested to see how close Sanchez gets to Valverde...or if he can pass him.

Basso already lost 11s

at the first time check Gesink put in a 12:50 (+59s), 22nd position

Evans took 7s from Sanchez at the first time check. If he can continue that pace, could he take 3x7s=21s... Could he take 2nd overall?

I hope cadel can bump Sanchez from the podium, although that's difficult.

He will be really ****ed, if he finishes 2nd overall with a 1:10-1:30 time difference to Valverde...

but Sanchez is only 6s behind Evans @ 19.5... so unlikely that Evans will finish ahead of him

He lost 57seconds with the puncture and getting up to speed. If he complains about losing the GC by more than that, it's him being a bad loser.
