And Hesjedal has not shown the same great recuperation? Remember tour 2010 when he was at his strongest in the 3rd week on the Tourmalet and again this Giro.

You are getting your hopes up for nothing. There is a less than 2% chance De Gendt makes up 1'40 on Hesjedal. And you base that on 1 ITT as far as I can tell.
Now who's arguments are void??

You are completely missing the point. I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm saying you can't compare a 3rd week GT ITT to a one week comp ITT. The example you posted is useless. These have been 3 weeks of stress and pressure for Hesjedal, this is also new for him. There is just as little need to act as if he has it in the bag, as there is that De Gendt poses a serious threat.

Obviously he won't win, only 28km.

There is nothing obvious about it. You are just refusing to be disappointed, so are eliminating the possibility. This can go either way. One of both could rise above himself and secure the win. This could be hesjedal. But it could also be De Gendt. Like i said, this is just as new to Hesjedal as it is to De Gendt, and i think the latter will be more fresh in the head. I would give the nod to Hesjedal for the GT win, heck i wouldn't rule out he puts down a faster time than De Gendt. But it IS less than two minutes. We have seen guys crack under pressure for less. This is Hesjedal's to lose.

Yeah, because the 2010 Tour is the best way to measure a rider time trial capabilities. Just ignore the enormous headwind the late starting GC-guys faced...

Alright, we can agree on that. But then tell me what he ever has done in a TT to be considered so much better than the other contenders because I can't seem to find it.

Hesjedal should be grateful that he has 1'47 to De Gendt and not a lone minute.

Purito started immediately after Ryder, so they will have faced similar conditions. Forget the gap to Cancellara or any of the early starters, it's not relevant.

Yes, but a crappy TTist like Rodriguez is (certainly was at that time) is more affected by riding into a block headwind.

Yeah, that was my line of reasoning later that year in the Vuelta when I argued Purito couldn't possibly collapse that way again.

Hjesedal will be 1 minute faster than Rodriguez at least.
I think JRod should be able to defend against De Gent so. IT seems like he really improved in TT

Good to get the "Rujano" in before the start.;)

Party time on RAI.
Andrea Guardini enters the studio, to girls casting rose petals and the Chariots of Fire music, to be presented with a Maglia Nero.
Then RAI's comedy interviewer, has a chat to Miguel Minguez about the competition, just as he's leaving the start ramp!
You won't see that at Le Tour.

Rasmussen, Phinney, Cav all on course, with some live pictures.

I kind of dislike when the winner doesn't have to ever defend the leader's jersey

He may not have been wearing it yesterday, but that's exactly what Hesjedal was doing
