This is where the people who were contending losing 39 seconds the first day was no big deal are dead wrong imho. Unless he's positively alien himself tomorrow it's what will cost him the jersey.

Please find quotes from people who said it “was no big deal.” Plenty of his fans were lamenting his missing the split and it costing him. I remember some saying it was still recoverable, and at least one saying it didn’t matter because the best he could do was 3rd anyways.

Remco rode a very very good race, he closed a couple of difficult gaps and he did lion's share of chasing Pog-Ving roll away. Working pretty much alone..He lost a couple of seconds but answered lots of lingering questions about his form, pre post accident. He has to be feeling good about TT and making a good deduction on his GC overall time.

Would like to see the replay of when he was dropped on the climb. If seemed slightly bizarre how he was momentarily dropped then rode back up to Pog quite easily before the top.

Initially I thought he had blown up completely.

Yeah the head drop was very reminiscent of his moments of cracking in the Dauphiné except here he recovered with a few seconds.

Just finished watching. Really exciting finale and glad Vingegaard managed to follow. I know it's not a long climb but this still bodes well. That was a brutal, brutal attack.

I think this is maybe a little harsh? That was full gas, balls out racing on terrain which doesn't suit him, EVERYONE was on the rivet, he virtually singlehandedly towed the chasers back to Pog/Jonas (to be fair, maybe a little dumb, maybe should have tried to bluff VdP into closing that since Mathieu was in yellow, but I'd rather see it as him having faith he can still take yellow tomorrow if the gap doesn't get bigger...),.

Yes lost a little time at the end but even Mathieu was tying up at the line. If he'd have lost 30 seconds then yes, I'd agree, but he was right there in the mix in a positively thermonuclear finale and after looking so shaky the first few days it's a nice 'W' to see him active at the pointy end imho. Had to close a couple gaps that a better bike handler might not have let open but overall he looked vastly sharper today. He needs to win that TT tomorrow though, and at least reasonably solidly, but it was overall a very good ride I thought. Just my .02 of course.

Terrain doesn't suit him ? Didn't he win LBL and Olympics RR and worlds ? So what actually suits him ?

He was beaten by Onley and by Almeida who was chasing everything down

Not long ago every fan of his on here were saying he only had to turn up to a race to win. .literally ..the fanbase had him winning everything and now on a stage that suits him he is not in the first group at the end ? Yes he chased but so did others and finished ahead of him

Most impressed by Jonas, I just re-watched him and his final sprint, that is the one of a great Jonas Vingegaard. Almost beat MVDP in a finish like this. IQ 300 if you slow-mo his sprint. Similar to Hinault's effort when Maertens won the Worlds. Flashback. Jonas is very strong right now.

I hope that Lenny will be a French star in July for many years to come. He'll try again.

I've been pleasantly surprised by Vingegaard but I think you can disregard MVDP in this sprint. He was cooked by his efforts to stay with the climbers on the last climb and riding a bit too much on the front in the final and stopped pedalling with 30m to go.

Vingegaard lost narrowly to Pogacar on an uphill sprint, which he has done several times before.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Pogacar pulls the same thing on a longer climb then Vingegaard sprints back up only for Pogacar to accelerate again.
