Could they not just give UCI points for going in the break? They give UCI points for other stupid reasons so why not breaks? Instead of giving UCI points for being 13 in a sprint or intermediate sprint or whatever crazy things is given points for.

But there must be a reason they don't go in the break; like last year Abrahamsen being in nearly every break but Carapaz got Combatif. So not even that could be achieved. I understand they give up. There's nothing to gain. Or hardly anything. So they start to save themselves.

There has to be something more to gain from it. I know people are used to worser teams just making a break for the sake of watchers having something to watch. They're not there for the race but for enjoyment of watchers, but that might not give sponsor money so. It's just a moment 22. Bad if you do bad if you don't kinda situation.
For teams that realistically don't have a chance to win stages, I'd think the break would be the major goal for the Tour. Of course, it can be really tough to get into a successful break, and the speed of peloton these day ensures that very few will make it. Still, keeping the sponsors happy means another year with a team.

With Asgreen and Abrahamsen to pull, they might be able to hold a decent gap to the peloton by the time they get to the hill zone. Could be a decent situation for Lenny if he has the legs.

His Giro crashes all happened when he was on the front.
Honestly I can't even remember when his crashes happened, I just remember it seemed like he had little interest in the race in general. It was something I just wasn't used to seeing from him at any rate.

Yeah the first crash was the main one on the gravel stage, aka the one that set everything in motion on the disaster scale. And that one was unfortunate because he entered the gravel section on Van Aert's wheel in a great position but he had no teammates with him. Then on that first gravel sector Lucas Hamilton decked it and sent a few of them down on the front of the small bunch, including Rog.

As for this Tour, I think I'm fine seeing him risk losing time by sitting too far back tbh. I'd rather that than see another crash. And listening to Denk's podcast last night pretty much confirmed they're taking a very conservative approach with Rog right now in order to mitigate the risk of accidents.

I had to take a break watching a Chinese drama, cause this wasn't doing it for me. I never cared for flat landscape, I was born to love waterfalls and mountains, since they have the best waterfalls.
I'm keeping myself amused by trying to identify if those are corn fields and others maybe wheat fields, you know, agricultural kind of stuff. :tearsofjoy:

Yes, please no Rogla in the front right now unless he's wrapped up in bubble wrap!
