jens will be on the case I am sure.

If you're timing it yourself vs. the Contador ascent in 2009 it may be worth retiming that one so you start your watch in the same place. Pretty sure it's on youtube somewhere.

Does someone know know how fast Contador went on montagne de lure?

Would be interesting to compare his time with today's time.

Ferrari times it a little different than Portoleau:

'The whole climb was done in 33'42" at and average speed of 26.7 km/h, with Alberto's VAM of 1629m/h, corresponding to 6.26 w/kg.'

Yeah but Col d' Eze is not a Kronplatz like mtt, it's more a mtt like the ones Bruseghin or Leipheimer won in Giro/Vuelta. Otherwise no way W&W would have been first and second in 2012. ;)

Scarponi might win the stage today. But if you want to add a climber as a dark horse for the overall I would go for Gorka .....

my wild guess for today is that velits will take the yellow, he looked quite good so far and with the best climbers na TA, imho he will be at the finish with the best. Than, the overall will be decided between him and chava in the last stage.

Well, how many riders outclimbed W&W at that 10% Mende climb last year?

My mistake. I probably was mistaking him with his brother, right?
I don't think Ion is a climber either :p
Very atypical riders for the Euskadi standards. They seem to be much more than your typical basque mountain goat.

Objectively, there can be the only bright favorite - Gesink. Quintana is a belief in a magic of perspective. I wish Robert to win.
