I guess it sort of makes sense, because once the big accelerations from the serious climbers come on the final slope the likes of Thomas, Flecha and Lovkvist would probably get dropped anyway, so Sky might as well use them up now.

They've managed to drop the Maillot Jaune, though!

The idea is to make the stage as hard as possible. Damage done of and to last climb will benefit the real climbers. This is good for Shleck, Contador and Wiggins.

Cuddles is looking good to take yellow at the end of the day if he can do a good ride on the final climb. Schlecklet only needs 30 seconds on him, though. Ryder Hes-Jay is even closer but I'd be amazed if he can stay with the leaders on the final climb.
