Cunego 3rd, does this qualify as out of contract rider doing ridiculous things, it might be years ago he got a podium in a WT stage

Froome couldn't respond to either Contador or Purito.

He was already dropping before Contador attacked. I'm sure that's why Contador attacked, well that's kinda obvious lol

I can't see Froome winning after being dropped like that. It isn't much time to lose but it isn't a good sign. No places to hide in the TT.

Agree, unless his form is going to improve as the race goes along, which looking at the past I somewhat doubt it.

P'raps Froome found his stem more interesting than the race.
Or may be he's feeling sick and can't medicate.

Wow Cunego was 3rd!

Froome going for that gel a few km's before the finish was a bad sign. Still, riders say the second day after a crash (today for Froome) is always the worst so maybe the lost time isn't the end of the world.

Froome down already suggests to me he hasn't got it. Its unlikely he'll suddenly show great form later.
Vuelta is between Quintana and Contador.

I would disregard that. They had only taken the top 23 of the stage into account ;) it's missing some names.
How about this one? :)

Monstrous attack by Contador. Would rather see him in red than Quintana but the time-trial will sort it out. I expect Valverde to move past Nairo again, too. Don't know what to say about Froome, hope it was just a bad day.

That was a pretty good attack from Contador but Purito did a good job of bridging it. And Nairito in red! :D

Purito couldn't get to Contador, without his teammate contador would have prob been in red.

Contador looks good but getting the jersey early might be catastrophic for him.

Yeah, it might actually be good he didn't grab the jersey, can't have a Dauphiné scenario.

We've been calling his bluff for a while already, since started fighting for bonus seconds.

Pathetic. 12 riders between Anacona and Contador. No sign of them.

Quintana roja, Contador 3 sec behind. If Vorganov didn't squeeze himself like a lemon + Purito sprinting like mad and Quintana being towed to the line, Alberto might have been in red.

Agree, can't see him improving unless the crash has affected him which is doubtful.

Purito could get to Contador, even without a teammate. But he was partly blocked by the fans and some riders who got caught.

I think Froome is a huge fighter look at the stage Valverde won he was dropping down the line alot and he did well. And then today he was on front as soon as Katusha put pace he slipped to the back and he only lost a little bit of time. His recovery on a stage is immense he goes in the red and then survives somehow. He need to take 1:30 out of the GC guys in the ITT that is the only way i think he can win La Vuelta.

Bravo Contador what a fighter you are, he as been rider of season, WT standings prove it he as not even finished a GT and he is top. Valverde yet again lol you can predict it with this guy every GT.

Or he's a Zimbabwean who isn't used to bad weather and lost focus when he heard his national team have whipped the Aussies today.
