Thanks.

That’s the sort of statement you issue before the truth comes out that you’ve been doping 85% of your career. He knows its coming.

I think it also shows that george isnt in the lance "deny everything" camp. Lance needs to be very worried that his former captain hasnt gone with the accepted defence of landis is lying..

Agreed. There was a sea change for Hincapie in 2006. After Puerto his 2006 Tour performance was dramatically different than in previous years. One might remember that Lance was touting Hincapie as a Tour winner at one point. What he was saying that on the right program George could win the Tour. That’s not realistic in real life terms but when on a doping program it irons out the weak spots and you don’t have bad days. To the original point and to Hincapie credit he's got away from that world and since July 2006 he’s been dope free. But that’s not a reason to say what he did was ok. Not everyone was doping in the 2000’s. I’m sure there are lot of French cyclists who want their chance again but instead had their legs ripped off at the back of the bunch every Tour. To make matters worse Hincapie was complicit in the rubbishing of said French cyclists and the whole concept that they don’t want to win. What we now know is true it wasn’t that the French didn’t want to win they didn’t want to dope. Hincapie is a liar and cheat. He can run away from his past now.

LOL. If anyone is paranoid/over-sensitive then it is you. You don't think Frodo is clean but no one is allowed to draw any inferences from his 'dental problems'.

TheHog - what about his time at Columbia? Hard to believe he was clean there.

Armstrong is gone. Reading between the lines on these comments:

For Stapleton, delving into the past to finger riders who may have doped has only hurt the sport’s tattered image.

“I believe that these guys that Landis named are playing by the rules and you have to judge them by the standards of today, and not look back to things that may have happened years ago,” Stapleton said. “I don’t think a witch hunt will serve any purpose.”

He added: “I’m all for the older generation racing and succeeding and passing the drug tests, but they don’t define the sport anymore. Lance Armstrong doesn’t define the sport anymore. There’s a new generation of riders and teams who operate under a whole new set of rules. I think the fans should stay tuned for that.”

pretty much the same thing from hincapie today.. no denial, just lets look to the future

“Whoever wants to talk about something eight years ago, fine, they can waste their time on that,” Hincapie said. “I want to talk about the future of the sport and the sacrifices we put into it.”

Hincapie addressed the accusations, saying he was disappointed to learn what Landis had accused him of, claims that included blood doping.

“I would like to say that there isn’t anybody out there, whether it’s the press, the fans or Usada, that wants a clean sport more than me,” he said. “I’m out there suffering, day in and day out. I sacrifice everything for my family. I don’t see my kids that much. I train five, six, seven hours a day, and I’d give anything for this sport.”

He went on to say that cycling does more to combat doping than any other sport and that it bothers him that people may think the riders are still cheating. He said he did not think he deserved what Landis said about him.

“I’m not the type of person that tries to bring harm on anybody,” he said. “I’ve led my life by trying to be a good person, by trying to be a good example, by trying to set an example.”

Hmmm, not the response i would give if i was falsely accused of blooddoping. Or at least i would expect someone to clearly say: i did not blooddope and i am going to sue Landis.

I would guess that all of these guys have talked it over with lawyers and are hedging their bets for the moment with "not saying I did, not saying I didn't" type statements until they see where the legal chips fall.

I didn't say that either. I made no judgement either way. But you seem to want to put words in my mouth to cover up the fact that you tried to construct doping scandal out of a very obviously explained trip to Paraguay, which has made you look a little silly.

Over the years, I've come to believe that the sport is inherently doped. I've been a fan since the early years of MY life (circa 1980) when I had to wait months to find out results because the European mags took about 3 months to hit the Oregon bike stores near me.

Eddy friggin Merckx was CAUGHT doping, but you don't spew invective against him. We all know about Tom Simpson and we all look at him as a cautionary tale, almost apocryphal in nature.

I know my appeal won't stop you, but I have to do it for myself. Stop isolating single individuals you DON'T LIKE and focus on the REAL problem. You completely blunt your arguments and limit your credibility when you focus on a select group to the expense of the rest of the cheaters.

Are you so blinded by your hate that you think the likes of Pantani were clean?! Do you honestly believe that Wiggins amazing Tour last year was CLEAN?! Hell, as much as I admire Big Mig (I am Basque, after all...), I have NO doubt that he wasn't an angel. Hell, I'm SURE Alberto is juiced, too.

Stop dogpiling on one guy and start looking at the whole picture. If you think that Armstrong and his associates are everything wrong, then you are truly as blind as they are.

There's a wholeother thread going on with people stating that what happened yesterday on Zoncolan was clean. The fans are guilty just as much as the teams and the riders and the doping authorities who are on the take.

And yet...cycling has an allure that keeps me glued to it. Add me to the list. If I was intellectually honest, I'd scoff and walk away just like I change the channel instantly if I happen to see more than 1 second of 'pro' wrestling.

I didn't argue anywhere that he's clean.

Mambo if anyone is looking silly its you. It is an either or. Either you think he's clean - in which case you are just very naive or stupid, or you think he is dirty, in which case getting knickers in a twist about his dental-doping activities in South America makes you look stupid.

Either way you end up looking like an oversensitive fanboy. You'd best quit while you're behind.
