Also big congrats to Seixas, what a ride! A monster is born. He's performed salto di qualita recently. He's not just the future but the present already. Del Toro had a big tactical advantage but was dropped, others were outclassed at the end.

I don't think you get dropped like that, if you're gifting. I think you just sit on the wheel, and then not sprint. Fact is, based on the time gap at the bottom, Seixas should have had the fastest time on the final climb. He closed to 1 minute, exactly. (Yes, I understand Pog was soft pedaling because he could). I think Del Toro would have done anything to be 2nd he just didn't have the legs, and Seixas was the clear 2nd best rider in the race today.

I want to see him in a 3 week race first - it's a very different animal in the tall mountains in week 3.
I thought its pretty clear Del Toro didn't contend the 2nd place....

The bleached hair looked stupid on Healy and it looks equally stupid on Pog.
It would be pretty hilarious if Pogacar retired in 2030/31 as the clear GOAT, only for Seixas to instantly dwarf him performance/domination wise. Extremely grim in terms of competitiveness, but hilarious.

If it was a flat run-in yes, but why would you bother going deep on that final climb to stay on the wheel if you have no intention to overtake? Might as well cruise to the finish.
You are right. I just say it's too soon to say he is the new Pogacar. By any means I'm discrediting him. He is a top5 rider in the world right now and probably the best GT rider next year (or in 2 years).
Maybe, but we can't actually know. The gap Seixas got was massive, and still, based on the gap to Pog at the bottom, he climbed faster than anyone in the race (admitting that Pog didn't have to)
I mean, I can't blame Pogacar for reaching his monstrous level, but another year like this ain't good for this beautiful sport.
Yeah, saved his legs for T-A. Pretty honorable as he had just marked Seixas in the second half of the race.
Crowd today was bigger than one has ever seen on the last climbs today in this race. I think it is doing just fine.
It's boring. Even Kelly was willing to be honest about it today. It's stupid boring, with Seixas being the only interesting thing to happen.
