advice for a new buke
Hello to all,
I'm on the market for a new bike and I'd like some advice from you.
These are more or less the characteristics I'm looking for:
- all-round frame, with good climbing and descent skills
- effective (non UCI) tires clearance up to 28/30mm measured
- rim brakes, I would really appreciate the direct mount brakes
- relatively comfortable, also oriented to outputs + 150km


For now I'm oriented to these models:
- Bianchi Specialissima, I tried it, it's really remarkable
- Orbea Orca OMR, I don't know nothing about the ride quality
- BMC Teammachine SLR01, tires clearance?

Saw your post in PL, so I'll say the same here..fit is key, more important than just about anything. Sounds like the Bianchi fit well and felt 'remarkable'..

If long distance comfort is important, then consider whether the frame is designed for that. A stiff bike can perform and feel great for a few hours, but perhaps not for longer periods. They are OK for competition when 'winning' is more important than enjoyment, but how will that suit you?

Thanks guy!
Assumed that the perfect frame don't exist, I choose some one are closest to my geometry.
Between this models, if there's one with the mentioned features, i'll be happy to buy it.
About this, I can add at the list other two frames:
- Factor O2, the most expesnsive, an unusual brand (in my country), little bit low stack, the burned orange colour is superlative.
- Cervelo R5, exceptional bike, but I don't understand about tires clearance, factory say it fit 28mm, but nominal or effective?

The perfect frame does exist, you just need to go to Wyndymilla, Argonaut, Sarto, FiftyOne etc. for carbon or an enormous list for steel (even a fit titanium). Just depends what your budget is?

I think that Cervelo R5 have a good chance to be my next bike, perfect geometry, good tyre clearance, amazing ride quality.

If you're really serious about long distance comfort, then why not aiming for Orbea Avant OMP?
It satisfies your demands, except,most probably, the direct mount brakes (I think all carbon Avants come with disc brakes and I don't know if you can use their customization page to shoot for direct mount brakes).

The biggest thing that I recommend when testing bikes is to quickly adjust the fit, and get as close to what you’re used to as possible within a couple of minutes. Working in shops when I was younger I’d see people try 2-3 different bikes, and, strangely enough they would usually choose the one that was already closest to how it should fit.
