i get it, to beat boonen saxo have to send boonen up the road. ;)

anyway i disagree, spartacus is the kinda rider who can ride away on a flat stage, especially in a small select group at the end. Not to mention this is P-R.

And seriously have you ever watched P-R??? This is no normal flat race, these cobbles are hell, and riders who are strong on the day do often just ride away. NO WAY are the climbs at Flanders more decisive, you are ignorant you believe this. Flanders might have some really tough climbs, but they have less cobbles, and the cobbles at flanders are like a massage compared to the one they ride in P-R. If flanders is more decisive I wonder why usually a pretty decent size group comes in after the front few guys, while P-R the riders come in clusters the whole way down, the field is literally destroyed in P-R.

That being said I dunno which race is harder (after all 16(?) climbs, many of which are full of cobbles are pretty tough), but suggesting the cobbles at P-R are a simple hard slog and less decisive then flanders is wrong. IMP P-R would be harder tho.

did some research and found a CH quote that sums it up for me:

If boonen has good shape cancellara will not get away from him. Watch 2008... Yes the cobbles are hard but cancellara will not be able to crack boonen or accelerate away from him. That's why I think saxo need to start attacking in Orcheis to isolate him and then start attacking with the "fab 3" from saxo (cancellara, breschel,o'grady)!

I won't be on the forum much tonight! (lucky for you) so have a good one and enjoy the race!

p.S. wouldn't it be interesting if the break stayed away for 90% of the race or even the whole race. that would add a new dynamic!

Very excited to watch P-R for the first time, having been converted from a TDF fan to a cycling fan during last year's Vuelta.

Enjoyed Flanders last week, just wondered if the course today is completely flat?

Wrong choice, watch 2006

Cancellara rode away from a good Boonen there (Boonen won Flanders the week before)

Don't use such selective 'proof'

We will see if I am right...

No, that year boonen was isolated. That's what i was saying. For saxo to win they have to isolate boonen as cancellara will not be able to ride away on flatter cobbles because tom can just sprint to his wheel. boone wasn't that strong that year really. he was on the 3rd group on the road excpet the train barriers changes the result.

ok boys (and ladies) I am off to watch the race at my local bike shop where they have had European satellite installed. In a toss up between watching the internet feeds and discussing it here and having a real TV the TV has won. But only this time, as I really enjoy watching with you guys, but I haven't seen a race properly since coming here!

So, see you in a few hours. :D

Oh, and

Devolder has gone down in a crash according to Susan, no informations about whether it's serious or whether he's back in the peloton

Give a hand to Luca Paolini. Hit by a out-of-control car yesterday, rushed to the hospital with severe bruising, and taking the start today.

Yes!
Sporza went off the air during a race once and after the first 3 heart attacks I found out you can actually watch cycling on other channels. :D
