I'm happy for Jono Cantwell's success, when he is in town over the summer I see him around a bit on the bike on a Saturday morning training ride at a closed circuit or at local races. He went to Europe when he was younger but couldn't hack it, he got homesick and came back. He now races crits in America for Fly V Australia which more suits his style of racing.

well brads only 3 seconds down,

Brad is actually 28 seconds down. He finished 3 seconds down on stage 2 (plus time bonuses) With Cantwell and Sutton fighting out for time bonuses He could be much closer to a minute down by the time they make it to Gelong for the TT. Can he make up that much on Sutton and Cantwell in only 10km?

Canwell said..."I have been trying to get as many time bonuses as I can on guys like Tuft and Wiggins before the time trial on Friday. If I can go with 30 seconds on them, I'll be happy."

Well he already has that on Wiggins and 46 seconds on Tuft and there are still 2 more stages to get time bonuses before the Stage in Gelong. It does promice to be an exciting few days with Garmin so dominant and Fly V not being able to offer Cantwell the most support when it gets down to a select group.

yeh.. sorry i was being braindead....my money is still on chris sutton to make his own little peice of history though..

brad is finishing well in the lead group every day though.. only losing a few seconds, and as long as sutton keeps winning in dont think a garmin 1-2 is out of the question (theyve also got tuft in the top 5)... sutton and wiggins are both riding superbly... cantwell is doing well though...

Ok...so I dont know much about most of the riders riding, but assuming Wiggo is on top of his game, how much time can he make back in the time trial? its only 10km.....

Can he still win the race?
Given Wiggo attacked in the first 5k today I am thinking he's not there for the GC win....

...but ya never know, sometimes you just end up in the right split.

I went down to watch the final stage live. At one point Cantwell was giving the Garmin riders an earful about something...needless to say, they weren't paying a lot of attention. Seemed just like the conversations in the local amateur crits :)

Cantwell seems to be a pretty quick rider. Maybe it's not too late for him to have another crack in Europe, if he wants to.

I have seen Cantwell carve up many a local crit here. The problem with the A-grade races here is that you get blokes like Cantwell and Robbie McEwen turn up and then the rest of the field has no chance when they line up.

good to see wiggins come here and win.
I didn't go down to watch today, I probably should have... I couldn't be bothered, no one in the field who I really like tbh.
