No. It's was the only right thing to do. It was a great attack but the stage profile wasn't in his favour. They started working together in the group behind him. He would have no chance whatsoever to keep the lead all the way to the finish line.

His TT was still far better than his climbing, though. He was easily the best of the GC guys there.

Given the final 35 kms the organizers tagged on, I'm surprised he made the effort at all.
Straight out the tour manual of sucky stage finishes, that one.
(excellent prep for the actual race, though)

Both races were really very poor; spoiled by insipid parcour.
This piece of Swiss cheese was stale and tasteless.

Oh, seriously, my bad, i thought that he was supposed to crush everybody like it was said here after the TT, and win the race. But i didn't saw that happening, i saw him struggling to hang on with Levi and Nieve, not to mention Frank. Like i said it would be after the TT.

It's not because he's one of your favorite rider that he will win every race, and drop everybody in the climbs. You have to look wisely, if he was struggling in Verbier, he was very likely to struggle again in the last two stages, it was obvious that he wouldn't be able to drop Frank, and would be struggling to keep with him.

Really liked today's stage but organizers ****ed up the final, with a decent MTF this would have been great. Still, good to see some climbers getting into form ahead of the Tour. Hope we will see more action in the mountain stages from RSNT and Rabo.

So... Gesink sucked in the prologue and Verbier because he had just returned from his altitude training. This isn't even a lame excuse like Rabo guys usually have, because he was in fact the best GC TTer and one of the best climbers.

If Gesink had returned from altitude training a few days earlier, he would have won this race quite easily probably

OK, so from whole TdS I can be super happy for 2 things:
1. Sagan's business as he is my compatriot
2. Levi's awesome recovery and performance after the car-hit.
So basically TdS was for me.
And I had 70km of mtb cross-country + 5 beers so I am little bit right now.
Oh, and ned-por soccer match today
