Anyone here who follows the FIM Motocross World Championship (the non-American/mostly European competition)?

I will this year. Ken Roczen looks to be the real deal. He's fun to watch.

I don't pay attention to it enough to even understand what is what.. I assume moto1 is 450s moto2 is 250s and moto3 is over 450... 4 strokes have really ruined it for me.

It's very easy. Only MX1 is worth watching.
There you have 2 Italians (Cairoli& Pillipiaertd), 2 Belgians ( Dessalle & De Dyker), and 2 outsiders (Nagl & Leok)

BTW: MX1 is 250 & 450cc; MX2 is 250 (4stroke) & 125 cc, MX3 is 500&650cc

Revenge...OMG...It was actually a good pass.. You can always try to run over the blocker when you are the blockee.

Yep. James decided to crash them both. Pretty awesome racing. I was jumping off the couch the last three laps.

Best race of the season

In my opinion, best race so far this year. No running away from everyone, top 4 bunched up for most of the main. It was awesome to see a race like that live. The track was pretty one linish though. during practice and the heats Villapoto was triple triple tripling the rythm section as were most of the top guys. Seems odd that he left that there and went with the roll, double...
Seemed faster tripling the whole way. Anyway, lots of good racing! Glad to see theres gonna be a little "hate" in the racing again. I got so sick of all of them just kissing each others tushes. It'll put some motivation into someone.
Excellent block pass by the way. Stewart deserved it. He blocked Reed into the lapper to get around him so fair is fair. Loved it!
Plus, I wanted Villapoto to win!!:D

Yep. Get to see most of the races live(or close enough)...whereas I'm lucky if I see a US motocross a few days delayed, and the rare supercross from the states.

I hope Desalle can take the title this year, after a 3th & 2th place.
And also some wins for Ramon, De Dycker & Strijbos would be nice:D

Tonight, Daytona SX Live. Should be fun...

Chad Reed;

I went in to make an aggressive pass and to put my motorcycle in front of him to try to block him, you know? To try to make that pass back. And shoot me for trying, you know? I'll do it again tomorrow; and probably do it with a little bit more meaningful... Well, put his *** on the ground, to be honest with you, because if you're either doomed if you do, doomed if you don't, that's the right call. And for me, I want to win. I don't want to be that pussy that just let him ride all over me. I want to be the 2003 Chad Reed. That's who I want to be. I was aggressive. I didn't take no shit from nobody

Well, JS clearly the fasted man on two wheels. Unfortunately the winner is who crossed the line first not who can cut the fastest lap times.

Me: JS will crash tonight.

Wife:..........

Me: See, I told you.

Wife: How'd you know that?

Me: The law of averages.

This is kind of all you need to know about Daytona. Stewart's 2 seconds a lap faster than Villapoto and then this;

Could RV have gone faster if pressed? I think so.

Could JS have gone faster. Probably.

I find fastest lap times sorta irrelevant.

The only thing that matters is crossing the line first.

Who was it that said something like this? "The best way to win a race is going as slowly as possible while still crossing the finishing line first".

Well, Villapoto was the smart one as he won and has a commanding lead in points.

Having said that, he was getting smoked by JS. It wasn't even close.

I've not seen it, only read about it, but the report was saying that his getting back to 9th from 20th(?) after he dumped it was very impressive. May have saved his season.

They also mentioned that an earlier "version" of JS would have been done for the race and likely the season.

If riding that close to the edge [and frequently over it] is smoking someone, then so be it but I think RV is the 'better' rider. Not faster, but SX/MX isn't a time trial.

Would be an interesting show on the side though........2 laps, best time gets the $$$$. Would morph into timed lap specialists and race riders over time I bet.

So far, I agree with you.

But Villapoto has been known to ride too close to the edge as well. Just look at last year.

I guess to win you need to be near the edge but my impression is that JS falls over that edge more often. That and I just like RV riding style better......fast and not as ragged imo.

Actually I like Ake Jonsson's style better then both of theirs...... ;)

I tried to imitate Pierre Karsmakers myself.

Adolph Weil was always a favorite. He raced GP's until his early 40's.

And then there were the Belgians, Joel Robert and Roger D.

I raced a few times with Hakan Carlqvist. Dude was real fast and hard as nails.
