If riding that close to the edge [and frequently over it] is smoking someone, then so be it but I think RV is the 'better' rider. Not faster, but SX/MX isn't a time trial.

Would be an interesting show on the side though........2 laps, best time gets the $$$$. Would morph into timed lap specialists and race riders over time I bet.

Back a few years...arenacross used to do just that...3 laps for a bunch of money. Its still done at a lot of local races...pretty fun to watch.

But not nearly as fun to watch as Bubba trying to get back on the bike with the subframe all tweaked out!!! Loved it! :D Anyway, Bubba is a great rider, but he didn't need to destroy the field, he just needed to win. Which he did not...not to mention he seat bumped a touch late on that one there...LOL!!!
Go Villapoto!!!

""Team San Manuel Yamaha's James Stewart was arrested yesterday on a charge of impersonating an officer, according to reports in this morning's edition of the Orlando Sentinel.

According to reports, Stewart was driving a 2008 Toyota Tundra pickup truck with a friend at 4:50 p.m. on Monday when he attempted to stop another vehicle using "red and blue police-type lights." The vehicle, however, contained two off-duty highway patrolmen.

Once the driver of the other vehicle identified himself as a law officer, Stewart sped off, according to the Highway Patrol.

Stewart was apprehended at Orlando International Airport by an Orange County (Florida) deputy sheriff. Troopers then arrived and arrested Stewart. His passenger, identified as 44-year-old Thames Jehrrod Quinault, of California, was also arrested on a charge of tampering with evidence. The Sentinel is reporting that Jehrrod hid the red and blue lights in his luggage.""

Meanwhile, the FIM Motocross World Championship has started. First Grand Prix was in Bulgaria.
Didn't see the race, only some highlights, MX1 was won by Belgian Clement Desalle, but on equal points with former MX2 rider Steven Frossard (a Frenchman)

""The "Iron Man of Motocross" Adolf Weil recently died in his hometown of Solingen, Germany, at the age of 72.

During the 1960s and 1970s, Weil competed in the FIM 250 and 500cc Motocross Grand Prix World Championships while riding for the Maico factory motocross team. His name became so synonymous with the brand that the Maico AW model was named after him. Weil never won a World title, but he did finish second to Hakan Andersson in the 1973 250cc Championships and finished third in the 500cc Championships three times. He did win the German MX National Championships 14 times and the Trans-AMA Championship in 1973. He accomplished that feat at the age of 34 while competing against riders much younger than himself. Racing well into his 30s, Weil retired from competition in 1976 and ran a motorcycle business in Solingen with his two sons Frank and Jurgen.""

I saw Adolph Weil win a Trans-AMA race at Lake Whitney in 74 or 75.. RIP Adolph

My first and probably only hero.

I saw RD crush everybody at a Trans-Am, Saddleback in 1976. Danny La Porte won the support class that day.

I was hooked.... Big time.
