Tell me what advantage (talking about wind) an attacker gets in his attack against a rider glued to his wheel?
If you are riding with no wind you are solely responsible to keep the attacking pace as a result pushing more power while on a strong tail wind(even if someone is in the wheel) the wind is in the direction of your attack resulting almost no drag and less power to go with the same speed

Both riders need less power to go with the same speed. The attacker and who is being attacked

All that depends on if MVDP is as good as today. If Pog is as good as today. How positions play out in crucial moments. Team performance. Crashes. Weather. All of these are factors that plays into it.

Like a lot can happen in a year and on the day.

Very rarely will the exact same scenario play out.

We will just have to wait and see what happens. What could happen.
We always have to base our perception based on everyone being in their best shape for the day. We cant base it on factors like due to someones illness or crash or non participation cause its also fact that pog would have won today if vdp was not in the race or crashes out but we can't base on such things

You missed the point as I was responding to your post.

He did everything he had to do. After the Cipressa only 2 riders hanging on. If Mathieu wasn’t this good he would’ve won solo. He knows the formule now, will do it like this every year untill everything comes together. I give him more chance to win the Primavera at least once.
Yes, he showed us today it can be done. I think he is in best shape ever but so is MvDP. RVV should be really Achilles vs. Hector, but i don't know which one is which.

We cant conclude levels for Rvv from today. Pog was by far the strongest today as he could drop everybody bar vdp off his wheel on a fresh test on a 4% climb. he has almost destroyed the laws of physics. If it was vanderpoel who does all this attacks and pog was on his wheel he would cook him at the top of the climb. But for E3 and flanders im convinced he will play him like a kid.

In 2023, Pogi dropped MVP in Kwaremont after losing/being dropped in MSR to MVP. It was clear Pogacar was stronger than MVP today, so I have a hard time to see MVP surviving to Pogacar in an attritional race like RVV, specially after a middle section full of hills where Politt, Vermeersch, Wellens and Narvaez can sufocate the race.

Pogi knows how to win de Ronde now. But I’m not sure he drops Mathieu again. He was riding hard to hold Wout behind and overdid himself. Wasn’t far of. He will ride smarter this year. Save some efforts solely focused on Pogi and the Kwaremont. Mathieu always said he could stay with Pogi in 5’ efforts. Today was 9’. It’s gonna be a good battle. Hope they both stay healthy.

There won't be any Laporte to save him again.
