Hard disagree.MVP can't drop everyone in the Poggio. In 2023, he took advantage of Pogacar's attack.

I think MVP has a better chance of winning MSR with Pogacar in the race.Hard disagree.
Exactly this!I have been following msr for more than a decade now, and I remember watching sagan trying and fail to win this race being the favourite almost every year. The reason why sagan never won and vdp has won twice is pogacar, I believe nobody could argue with that. If vdp had the entire peloton looking at him (like sagan had) he could not win msr, simply because if he had to initiate an attack on poggio himself (with everybody on his wheel and not after pog has attacked) he could not drop everybody, the group contesting the win would be inevitably be much larger and the likes of matthews, philipsen, even kooij in the near future would beat him. The only way in which he could win would be with an attack like stuyven but being the favourite he would be too marked for that
This is true, but I do think he could win the race without Pogi there.I think MVP has a better chance of winning MSR with Pogacar in the race.
Definitely. He doesnt have to worry about any sprinter being there and he should have the best sprint out of all the strongest riders, if together going into the final stretch.I think MVP has a better chance of winning MSR with Pogacar in the race.
There's a big chance that I'm at the start. I cannot say whether this year or next year, but there is always a chance, so let's see and let's be a little bit surprised
He needs to try before. He can be the second rider ever to win everything in cycling (GTs, monuments and WC).Okay, MSR is done and dusted. So can he rule out doing Paris-Roubaix this season ? After his 2023 LBL crash I'd hate to see him wreck the rematch with Vingo at he Tour by getting injured at P-R.

Tadej Pogačar to decide on Paris-Roubaix imminently after Milan-San Remo defeat
'In the next two or three days we'll decide' says UAE team manager Mauro Gianettiwww.cyclingnews.com
Hopefully next year if it has to be in the next 5 years. Glad to read that Gianetti is also worried about the possibility of crashing. IMO Pogacar should target P-R after he turns 30.
Finally we got mou esque analysis👏. It seems @mou has left his dna on someI have been following msr for more than a decade now, and I remember watching sagan trying and fail to win this race being the favourite almost every year. OK, but if TP wasn't at the race, the winner would be the same so...I am going to be an outlier here and the top two places owe their podium spots to pogi, full stop. It was at least as much about tactics, in particular dismal team tactics by UAE management, than it was about strength of prevailing riders. Pogi made the payments that MVP and Ganna profited from. Now we gotta read about water bottle attacks explainers.
Likely it would have been a sprint. Reckon Matthews, Groves or Pedersen could have won that.OK, but if TP wasn't at the race, the winner would be the same so...
Well-written and good analysis.I have been following msr for more than a decade now, and I remember watching sagan trying and fail to win this race being the favourite almost every year. I don't believe to be honest. I think Matthews would win.OK, but if TP wasn't at the race, the winner would be the same so...
But what kind of race you would get without Pogacar? An attack with 800m to the top of Poggio? Probably 3 or 4 riders able to follow MVP and you have a sprint in the final.Ganna doesn't owe him shite. He chased Cipressa and full Poggio basically on his own, if anything Pog should be thankful that he pulled in between the climbs for no reason whatsoever.
Like I get it, it was a great race but some fans really want to give credit to Pogacar for literally everything on the road.
Needs to send pogi half the trophy and invite him to top stepI think MVP has a better chance of winning MSR with Pogacar in the race.
He attacked once but yeah, he was always wheelsucking Pogacar.Lance was like “no one won because they sucked wheels and sprinted at the end”
I’m like what??? That’s exactly what mvp did
This also works when managment sucks so bad you start out sprinting up 35 places just to get to where you can attack a rider like mvpIt's easy to race against Pogacar (on paper). Just wait for his attack and give everything you had to keep his pace. Races are very predictable with Pogacar, everyone knows when and where he will attack.
Like he did so many times...I don't believe to be honest. I think Matthews would win.
More likely to just get Milan sprinting for his first win. Who finished 81st with pogi in the race. Did he crash or something or was the race actually too hard for him?But what kind of race you would get without Pogacar? An attack with 800m to the top of Poggio? Pogi got what he deserved because his race was so poorly managed by the team in terms of personnel and resources. The other two on the podium got what they did because they were just strong enough to stay on pogis wheel and stronger at the flat end.Ganna doesn't owe him shite. He chased Cipressa and full Poggio basically on his own, if anything Pog should be thankful that he pulled in between the climbs for no reason whatsoever.

No one had more than one victory (now MVP has 2) and Matthews was very close last year. I think he was the best sprinter.Like he did so many times...![]()
