Just to be clear, I am the first one admitting the Giro 2024 was almost a procession for Pogacar (of course Pogacar's fans liked more than neutral fans) but having a tight battle until the last stage is not a good indicator of a good GT. Giro 2023 was dreadful in many ways.

Do you really consider that to be "Frustration turning to anger", rather than speculating that some people (apparently fewer than he estimated, but this was an interview, not a researched article) might have chosen not to watch?
If he was asked about whether the 2025 Giro would be poorer than the 2024 event due to the absence of Pogacar, why on Earth would he mention the 2023 Vuelta??? How is that remotely a valid criticism of his comment?

Overall, Giro 2023 was better then Giro 2024. In term of racing and drama till the very end. Višarje is something that we will remember forever and up until that point the overall winner was not leading. It has the Tour 2020 vibes, another race that we will remember forever.
As for Pogi and his Giro win in terms of what will remain memorable on the long run is mostly domination. And even here Giro doesn't really stand out as the whole Pogi era is the same and hence you don't have to single Giro out. In terms of drama and stuff. So from historical point of view what will remain is recognition of successful attempt on when it comes to Giro-Tour double. And that is rather splendid if you ask me.

Van Hooydonck speculating that viewership numbers might've been down a bit because Pogacar was dominating last years Giro is a brutal indictment of pure anger. I hope he gets charged for hate speech and thrown in jail. I've rarely ever seen such levels of disrespect in competitive sport.

What I am saying is a scenario like we saw in the Vuelta 2023 would not criticized by NVH and like @YavorD said, viewership is not a good indicator of quality so NVH's answer was silly.

A interview with NVH when he said there wasn't a bad team environment and blamed the media for that. Do you really think he is impartial in his assessments? I don't think so.

Great comments, thoughtful. He makes the good point that in his opinion, it's the "right" of Roglic to be positioned to win. And history is history. Visma, the media all said Sepp was coming of age and that the win was deserved and not gifted.
Kuss was ready to take on bigger roles in leadership. The sound of crickets, Kuss has just not showed up, instead of leadership, his role as important lieutenant has been diminished. He is currently a non factor. And with crash calamity that is Jonas's recent racing, it would have been great for Visma to have proven powerful Primoz..

What you were complaining about was him not citing the 2023 Vuelta when it had nothing to do with what he was asked. If he is asked about it, you might get his take on whether that was a good watch.
Perfectly fair to say that his answers in this interview were silly. I'm still waiting for the justification for saying that they were hateful, disrespectful and angry.
But I don't think that is going to be forthcoming from those that said it.

I have no problem with them not liking what he said: I do care that, in a forum I have respect for, people make accusations that they are apparently unwilling or unable to defend.
It was just super disrespectful. He should be ashamed of his comments.

Wait a minute, I'm smelling some incoherence here. Where are you defending Pogacar when some posters go wild against Pogacar calling him a "clown", a "disgrace to this sport", "worse than Armstrong"?

So NVH lying or just not having any facts for his claims is somehow okay?
Speaking for "fans" in general, with very few people agreeing with him. How does he have the nerve to speak for so many?
And then his own history racing against Pog...
How is he credible? Where are people wrong for calling this out?
He is talking out of his ass with his comments and he just comes off bitter. Purposefully trying to speak bad about someone. He should get a lot of backlash for what he said and rightfully so.

Overall i feel it's good for this sport, tensions in between Visma and UAE. As for the proof, luckily ultimately in this sport the road decides. Personally i am happy that the tension in between Visma and UAE now has a name, Red Bull.

That does not follow from what I wrote. If I accuse Pogi of being a clown, I can defend that accusation without a proof.
