Pogacar beat Pantani by 3'30". It's a big gap.How could the Tour de France contenders not beat climb records when fifteen riders in a break overcame a Contador record.

Obviously. If Romeo, who isn't a climber, and Bardet, who's about to retire, beat Contador, the Tour de France winner will easily surpass those numbers.Pogacar beat Pantani by 3'30". It's a big gap.
Because Contador is a bad proxy for Pantani records. How could the Tour de France contenders not beat climb records when fifteen riders in a break overcame a Contador record.

Yeah, cycling has been way faster after 2020. One of the reasons is this golden generation of riders.Obviously. If Romeo, who isn't a climber, and Bardet, who's about to retire, beat Contador, the Tour de France winner will easily surpass those numbers.
Almeida, Yates, Politt were not in Isola. Not everyone from the team did an altitude camp? Silver Sivakov Wellens and Narveaz were with Pogacar right?
Rest before the Tour. Politt will be important in flat stages. Yates can ride into form. Only Almeida, I expected to be there but maybe he wanted to recover before the Tour. Why?
I'm sure he will demolish every GC rider in the Tour and I'm not being optimistic. He just needs to stay on his bike and the most impressive climbing record in cycling history will go down in July (Riis in Hautacam).
Politt is in the national championships. Yesterday he finished fourth in the time trial.
I don't understand why Yates doesn't do altitude. Most riders who ride Giro-Tour do an altitude camp.
I think he lives in Andorra so he is training in the mountains for sure. He just needs to be good after stage 11.Politt is in the national championships. Yesterday he finished fourth in the time trial.

This makes me nostalgic for when Vingo was top dog
You also think (just like me) he will lose by a lot in the Tour? This makes me nostalgic for when Vingo was top dog
I hope. I don’t want it to be close. But I don’t want to be surprised when he shows up a completely different rider in July from just weeks prior. This is cycling we talking aboutYou also think (just like me) he will lose by a lot in the Tour?
vingegaard never made a huge step between dauphine and tour, he will be better but not a completely different riderI hope. I don’t want it to be close. But I don’t want to be surprised when he shows up a completely different rider in July from just weeks prior. This is cycling we talking about
We saw in 2022 and 2023, he didn't make a huge leap in performance. I think he will not be better than "Dauphine's Pogacar"We never saw the depth of his form in June before. Takes a real rival to expose it
I'm a Pogi fan and I don't want Vingegaard to be spanked by Pogacar. I'm a cycling fan after all.I hope. I don’t want it to be close. But I don’t want to be surprised when he shows up a completely different rider in July from just weeks prior. This is cycling we talking about
"Legacy" performances are last year or years before. I'm talking about now. I'm Irish-Murican, for what that's worth.Jonas is an alien, the rider who destroyed Pogacar's aura, the rider Pogacar fears the most. He is a legend just for having beaten Pogacar twice in the Tour. This will be his legacy, only rider to ever threat the GOAT of cycling (when we talk about ability, not palmares).
I'm portuguese and I know Almeida can't even bother Vingegaard.
One "if" and the conjecture about drafting...still not convincing enough to suggest that Almeida couldn't hurt him while pacing Pogacar. If Almeida is close to Vingegaard w/kg wise then obviously his 15-minute VAM can be higher than Vingegaard's 30-minute VAM (keep in mind that Vingo profits from drafting, which makes it more difficult to realize). Still it's a big question to ask: I'm expecting Vingo to be significantly stronger than Almeida and this scenario impossible.
