How could the Tour de France contenders not beat climb records when fifteen riders in a break overcame a Contador record.

Because Contador is a bad proxy for Pantani records.

There are very good reason to assume Pogacar and Vingegaard will shred the records of Hautacam, Ventoux (and Alpe d'Huez when it reappears), but Contador's Madeleine time is not one of them.

Yeah, cycling has been way faster after 2020. One of the reasons is this golden generation of riders.

Rest before the Tour. Politt will be important in flat stages. Yates can ride into form. Only Almeida, I expected to be there but maybe he wanted to recover before the Tour.

I think he lives in Andorra so he is training in the mountains for sure. He just needs to be good after stage 11.

Between 6,8 w/kg - 6,88 w/kg for 34'41".
I prefer to look to VAM: 1840 m/h.
With a strong pace by UAE in the first half, Pogacar can break this record.

vingegaard never made a huge step between dauphine and tour, he will be better but not a completely different rider

We saw in 2022 and 2023, he didn't make a huge leap in performance. I think he will not be better than "Dauphine's Pogacar"

I'm a Pogi fan and I don't want Vingegaard to be spanked by Pogacar. I'm a cycling fan after all.

Jonas is an alien, the rider who destroyed Pogacar's aura, the rider Pogacar fears the most. He is a legend just for having beaten Pogacar twice in the Tour. This will be his legacy, only rider to ever threat the GOAT of cycling (when we talk about ability, not palmares).
I'm portuguese and I know Almeida can't even bother Vingegaard.

"Legacy" performances are last year or years before. I'm talking about now. I'm Irish-Murican, for what that's worth.

If Almeida is close to Vingegaard w/kg wise then obviously his 15-minute VAM can be higher than Vingegaard's 30-minute VAM (keep in mind that Vingo profits from drafting, which makes it more difficult to realize). Still it's a big question to ask: I'm expecting Vingo to be significantly stronger than Almeida and this scenario impossible.

One "if" and the conjecture about drafting...still not convincing enough to suggest that Almeida couldn't hurt him while pacing Pogacar.

How different is it from the UAE Tour and Dauphine TT position? I also read he might be wearing the new UAE TT helmet that was worn by Vermeersch in the Belgian TT.
