Okay. Just joined to make this post.

A few people here are a little stressed about Pog and the upcoming stages. We'll, just imagine it this way: on Mont Ventoux, the positions were reversed, with Pog in Vingo's position and Vingo in Pog's. Imagine Pog spent all his troops in a beautifully executed game plan, took the lead, showed spirit, gave it loads, but no matter what, could not shake off Vingo who just sat on his wheel. Imagine Pog did all that, and still saw a composed Vingo power straight past him at the finish. Imagine, when Pog came over the last little crest and saw Vingo shooting through the finish like a yellow dart, that he was the one who shook his head in wtf exasperation, basically stopped pedalling, and gave away two seconds, disheartened.

Imagine how scared you'd be then. Imagine how Vingo and VLAB feel now.

Visma are going to go like hell, especially on Stage 19 when the kitchen sink will go in because it's their last real chance. Vingo will turn himself inside out that day - cos why not. But they flung everything at it on Ventoux - planning, execution, sheer grit and balls - and ended up with nothing.

All Pog has to do is sit on Vingo's wheel, that's it.

Good first post! Enjoy the stay

They did not have the team for it and it was not a target from the start of the day. They have a plan that did not include contesting Ventoux. As such, Visma layed out their resources and fell short on all objectives. A moral win? yeah lol
I think they had a team for it but executed it rather poorly either in defense or offense mode. The thing is that i think through age he is kinda evolving a bit like what froome was doing in his days. Team sky/froome usually puts the hammer down on the first MTF & reverse to defense mode for whole race & its the same pattern with pog this year but i would rather want my goat go crazy about history, mythic & demonstration on iconic mountains of france like his all time competitor merckx did but not like the boring 4 time winner

Loze was definitely the scene of his collapse in 2023 - "I'm Gone, I'm Dead".

He can use that painful memory as motivation for this stage. Pogacar will be aiming for redemption.
The road itself is meaningless to him. He has said repeatedly all the climbs are basically the same. Pundits like to talk up a big game how this climb or that one is mythical and magical or especially hard.

But as Pog has said, he just had a bad day it could have been any climb it just so happened to be Loze. He does want redemption to shut people up. Sadly it won’t, people will still dig up the “I’m Gone, I’m Dead” to stir the pot and create drama.

But at least for us tomorrow Pog plans to rewrite the history with that climb and give us a show. 🐐

A 12km solo launch on Hautacam wasn’t epic enough? How many times in a single tour do you expect those kinds of attacks? Every day?

Obviously they are down a key mountain lieutenant without Almeida, and Adam Y, Soler, and Sivakov just don't seem to have the ability to take up this slack. They usually drop before Vingo and his leitenants feel any pressure.

Wellens when deep to win a stage one day + rest day prior to Ventoux.

So that left Politt who tried his level best. And the team gave Narvaez a bit of respite presumabley with a plan ahead.

There's a big difference between dropping on the last 5 or 10 km of a climb and then getting drop on a full gas Madeleine with 70 km to go with Loze still to go. That's obviously the scenario Im talking about. Probably won't happen, but Visma will try their absolute hardest now after what they saw yesterday.
I admit I hadn’t looked at the stage profile before posting. I still don’t think it’s super likely but I see what you’re saying for sure. Some guys in the top 10 will likely lose 4+ minutes tomorrow. If everything go s 100% perfectly like it did for Yates in the Giro, sure, it could happen. I think it’s more likely that if Vingegaard gaps Pogacar on Madeleine, which I don’t expect, he gets pulled back on the descent. Should be epic though.

Pog will folow and stomp Vingegaard again. If Vinge can hold counter attacks, he'll get beaten at the line. If he can't holds attacks, he'll loose up to a minute. That's it.
I'm more worried about Bora duo, because crazy fast first part of the race might kill Lipo or Rog or both. But others are having it even worse so...free Roglič!
