Pog trying to mask his form for the RR.
Pogacar, for better or worse, is a man without masks. He doesn't tend to deceive with his performance.

He also doesn't tend to make excuses, which is what's good about him, unlike others who today would say they were injured or ill (Remco, Ayuso...)

Pog started feeling bigger than the sport and started riding ridiculously in the TdF with not wanting to win stages or I do not even know what he was thinking there. It is nice to see him with his head down and humiliated. Maybe he should be winning everything he can while he can. Not riding the Vuelta last year was also ridiculous (this year too, but he already had his nose high by that point).

Downs in 2025 (In my opinion)
Amstel Gold Race
TDF Stages to Superbagneres and La Plagne
GP Quebec
World's TT

Some Tour stages in the last week were subper indeed but not bad (Vingo never dropped him).
AGR was straight after Flandres-Roubaix double so I wouldn't count it.
World's TT, surely a down.
GP Quebec, not sure, maybe just training ride.

This performance will help him win the RR. Now Remco believe he can beat him so he will have Belgium control and then race for Pogacar in my mind.. If Pogacar had won with 1 min today Ii would be everyone against Slovenia. And no way Slovenia could handle that.
Very good point

What downs he had in 2025?

I sair relative and I meant performance considering expectations.
UAE wasn't great. AGR, Dauphiné TT, the Tour after his 4th stage win, everyone thought he would win at least one more stage..

And his overall level during the Tour. He wasn't as good as last year and I predicted that before the Tour and we were arguing about that.

Compare him to 2024 where is his ONLY down that I remember is Stage 11 of the TDF to Lioran.
In 2024 he was a different beast.

We will see but it will be hard either way I think. Especially because of the team aspects.

A strong break could be hard to catch as well if nobody is chasing.

It will be very interesting to see how it will be raced.

I actually rate Pog chances for another Lombardia bigger than another WC here.

Hope for both, but not counting either yet.

People underestimate what racing all the classics in the spring does, then Dauphine and a very hard Tour where Visma raced really hard to break him.

But Pog is Pog, he has bounced back before.

Next year he should do only 30 race days before World's so he is not tired.
Some of you keep talking about the number of days of racing.

The number of days isn't as important as the intensity.
If Pogacar had done 50 days, swapping his spring for Paris-Nice and Romandie, he'd be less exhausted.

The spring Pogacar had with 10 days is more exhausting than 20 days of racing in wone-week races.

He himself proved it last year.

Giro - stage 1
Tour - stage 11
GP Quebec

In 2025, he is racing against harder competition
Disagree about two of these.
Giro Stage 1 - he pushed legendary watts and only a worldclass Narvaez stayed on his wheel
Tour - stage 11 - I agree
GP Quebec - he was actually competitive and finished 7th. This year he was 29th.

We were talking about downs. If his level in the Tour is a down, what can we say about all other riders?
I can accept people saying he is not as impressive as 2024 but saying his UAE Tour, TdF are downs, it's too much in my opinion.

Pog in the interview admitting that it's not good for the TT that he went to Canada.
He sounds frustrated and has a disappointed look.

Understandable. Especially after getting nothing after gifting away the W in Canada. He also mentioned sickness in the build-up to canadian races. Good thing pogi never gives excuses when he fails to win.

(I still believe he'll smoke everyone during the RR, unless Del Toro is allowed some freedom)

Most likely he was just hoping to get a podium with less than optimal preperation. There's no way he thought he'd win this.

If anything this duel was extremely overhyped before the race, and that's not even Pogacar's fault.

I'm sorry but he specifically mentioned training extra with his TT bike. he was aiming for it.
Maybe the parcours once seen in person was not as tough as initially led on. But this was a goal.
Not THE goal, but a goal. It's okay. For Pogacar this TT ain't that important, especially with the RR coming up.
But let's not pretend he did not want to win here.
