What I take from this edition is Pogacar would demolish MVP last year if he was well positioned like MVP. This year MVP wasn't in the front and was cooked.

I dont believe one can say that or that I can agree with that.

The main difference was Pog just riding the climbs in higher sustained pace for longer, rather than doing 5-6 accelerations imo. He gassed himself doing that last year. It was less stop and go now.

His descending and making them hard after each corner was a difference as well.

There are many things that were different imo.

Regarding his team work, what a fantastic job from McNulty. He will do wonders in LBL and the Tour.

Crash, 30sec behind in full speed run in. Close the gap with nuggets + florian, pass whole peloton sets KOM. Gaps MvdP on 4%, i bet Mvdp cant wait for RVV..Tonight we raise our wine glass for the best rider ever. Absolute cinema.

1. Great win, i think i saw him so happy only after first RVV win and first WC win. 2. I am humbled because of Mcnulty, i was never a fan, no he is my second favourite rider. 3. I don't get it. MSR is very easy to put on his schedule and since he won, he doesn't need to prepare this race like a madman!

Think it has to do with motivation and ride races he enjoys. He finally got his win after endless attempts.

Merckx faced much stiffer competition from generational greats like De Vlaeminck, Gimondi and Godefroot.

Not this again... don't compare a national sport with 7 belgians in the top10 of monuments with a global sport now.

What a glorious moment, he is the GOAT of this sport.

I can’t help but make a small mention of all the “experts” who said repeating the tactic wasn’t a good idea, or that the team should focus on a two-leader approach with Pogacar and Del Toro. Hilarious, it almost seems like people still haven’t realized by now that Pogacar isn’t just better than the others, he’s much better, both physically and mentally. What a beautiful day.

I think he might be a bit sick of MSR to be honest. He posted on Instagram this morning and his final comment was promising Urska that now he wouldn't insist on riding those roads all the time. I think he prepared for it this year more than he ever has before, but if he doesn't do that, his chances of winning diminish massively.

I don't agree with your last sentence. Of course recons are important but it's not like he needs to train on those roads 20x. He can go there 3 days before the race and do a recon around Imperia and San Remo. The most important thing wasn't his "millions" recons, but how he discovered the recipe to win MSR (attacking the Cipressa and not wait for the Poggio). This is the main factor for him to win this race (in any moment I am saying recons aren't important).

The most important win for him in a long long time. Good to see his rivals congratulate him, MVP put an emoji of a goat. Fans can say whatever they want but the peloton knows how freak Pogacar is.
