Some people must have short memory. This race without Pogacar is one of the worst races in the calendar. 6 hours of nothing and 15 minutes of action. Now he isn’t coming back, msr is going back to where it belongs I.e ciciban. No action until final 5 kms
What I take from this edition is Pogacar would demolish MVP last year if he was well positioned like MVP. This year MVP wasn't in the front and was cooked. The crash wasnt ideal, but it did make the peloton smaller and so on.
Disrupted things.
It never really plays out how one thought it would even though the outcome of it being Pog, Pidcock and MVDP going over the top of Cipressa together was a plausible scenario.
I dont believe one can say that or that I can agree with that. What I take from this edition is Pogacar would demolish MVP last year if he was well positioned like MVP. This year MVP wasn't in the front and was cooked.
The difference was MVP had to go hard in the first part of Cipressa.I dont believe one can say that or that I can agree with that.
The main difference was Pog just riding the climbs very hard, rather than doing 5-6 accelerations imo. He gassed himself doing that last year.
I dont agree. The difference was MVP had to go hard in the first part of Cipressa.
He needed to go hard before Cipressa because he was also caught by the crash. He could not save enough energy for later. The difference was MVP had to go hard in the first part of Cipressa.

*Most of the rainbow JerseyHe is the first rider since Saronni to win MSR with the rainbow jersey.
Only PR is missing right now with this jersey.
I don't get it. MSR is very easy to put on his schedule and since he won, he doesn't need to prepare this race like a madman!Hi won't surely ride MSR next year. But he may return someday. He might want to be the first guy to win all Five Monuments at least thrice.
Think it has to do with motivation and ride races he enjoys. He finally got his win after endless attempts.I don't get it. MSR is very easy to put on his schedule and since he won, he doesn't need to prepare this race like a madman!
This is the point. He can still ride races he enjoys without missing MSR.Think it has to do with motivation and ride races he enjoys. He finally got his win after endless attempts.
Pogacar moves past Anquetil.

It usually means...Explained a bazillion times, just because you win a lot in doesn't mean you're actually THAT good
Not this again... don't compare a national sport with 7 or belgians in the top10 of monuments with a global sport now.Merckx faced much stiffer competition from generational greats like De Vlaeminck, Gimondi and Godefroot.
Great post. He is in a league of his own and will probably have the palmares of Merckx in 4 years. What a glorious moment, he is the GOAT of this sport.
I can’t help but make a small mention of all the “experts” who said repeating the tactic wasn’t a good idea, or that the team should focus on a two-leader approach with Pogacar and Del Toro. Hilarious, it almost seems like people still haven’t realized by now that Pogacar isn’t just better than the others, he’s much better, both physically and mentally. What a beautiful day.
