This literally ruins 2 Grand Tours in 2024.

Because both the 2024 Giro d'Italia & 2024 Tour de France now are a walk in the park bar accidents for Pogacar & Vingegaard respectively.

Looking forward to the 2024 Vuelta a Espana! Although with going to the Tour de France kid Ayuso won't be fully focused on the Spanish grand tour either.

So maybe Vingegaard just gets the petit double he denied himself this year in 2024.

Good news for Uijtdebroeks though. Pogacar certainly is going to rip the race apart. So if Uijtdebroeks gets his act together there's a good chance for a podium placement at the upcoming 2024 Giro d'Italia. Despite being a weak descender and TT'er.

Hmm, i would like it, if Pogacar wouldn´t be the only big GC guy going there. Perfect would be now, if Vingegaard will also ride the giro and then both go to the tour against fresh Roglic and Evenepoel.

When only Pogacar is going now to the giro means that we will already know 95 % the giro winner (Pogacar) and 90 % the tour winner (Vingegaard)

Who the F*** cares about a rider that is now famous for the wrong reasons?

I consider that Pogi's strength comes from changing the races he does and their variety. This is no surprise at all. Only his sponsors likely stood in the way. Going for the Giro does not mean not going to the Tour but it gives me a strong leverage towards other attempts in the future. And it takes a brave man to take this step and sail to uncharted territory.

yep, this really stinks. i hope the Giro organizers are happy when Pogacar has an 8 minute lead before the third week (actually, i dont think the route is hard enough for that, which is another thing. they clearly made the route easier to attract Pogacar, so he could do both the Giro and Tour).

Sensational news! I was sure Teddy would again focus on spring monuments + the Tour + Lombardy. So how will he build his form? Early season peak again in March? (for San Remo) What about April classics (only Liege but no Flandres?). Giro + Tour double is super difficult and while he'll be a huge favourite at the Giro I don't give him a chance at the Tour vs Skeletor (he's usually very gassed following a GT and never even tried Tour+Vuelta double). Or maybe after the Giro they will decide to target the Vuelta - trying to get GT set would be a more realistic goal.

Bah. Not just because of the Tour, but the rest of his season will suffer from going to the Giro.

The route really isn't that hard and he wouldn't have to ride at 100% to win.

I see the point of those who lament the predictability of the race now but the last couple of editions have definitely proved that a tight situation on GC does not equal an exciting race at all.

And at least with him, there will be a protagonist who is not afraid of attacking.

The idea that all top four would just focus exclusivity on the Tour, that in my opinion is just as silly as assuming Jonas will win the Tour 2024 edition easily or at all. Looks like a great season ahead. Especially considering the Olympics being involved too. And an addition of a top tier contender, to Pogi, at Giro 2024. That wouldn't surprise me at all.

Olympic year. So winning Giro might potentially move focus to that too. We'll see.

Who would that be? Remco riding would have made sense until now. But with Pogi there, he wouldn't be favourite any longer, so there would be no good arguments to opt out of the Tour.

Yeah, I think it can be good for the Giro too, but for De Ronde? Liège? The Tour?

If he goes Giro-Tour with main season goals of Giro, Olympics and Worlds, he cannot afford a full spring campaign.

Roglič likely not, due to his situation with the Tour. Although if he would stay with Visma, then in my opinion Giro + Worlds/Olympics ... that wouldn't be that bad of an approach for the 2024 season. So all other are in my opinion still possible, bar Rogla. That is Jonas, Remco ...
