something happened. there was too much difference between the attack phase, the increase in the advantage on the descent and arriving dead at the finish line without even having the strength to sprint. Ofc cannot be the Giro fatigue 😂
But tbh - I am a bit fed up with excuses.

2022 - it was supposedly having to cover Roglic (that was *** in my book)
2023 - it was supposedly his wrist (there is for sure some merit to that, but the gap was so huge, he would have lost anyway)
2024 - it is supposedly his nutrition (if it really is, don't complain after you took a blow, fix it - thats the team with the largest budget ffs...)

And don't get me wrong - I root for Pogacar. And he is also not the one searching for any excuses. But people like to make them for him.

While reality is probably that there is a stronger GT rider than him in the peloton.

So it's normal for him to lose a sprint to Vingegaard? Okay.

That Jonas was a stronger GT rider for me personally is clear from the Ventoux stage of the 2021 Tour. I have nothing to say about excuses, I base it on what I saw today with my own eyes: Jonas was already struggling to keep up with Yates using his shoulders a lot, so much so that he didn't offer any resistance to Pogacar's shot (unlike Galibier). Then after having increased the advantage even in the technical downhill, terrain where I believe Jonas and Roglic are stronger, Pogacar suddenly finds himself without legs, suddenly. I find it strange because in that state he was definitely the weakest of the Big 4...while 10km before he was from another planet

Just cut the excuses, Vinge is getting stronger by the day and Pogacar will be completely decimated on Isola when we are back in Vinge territory, this stage had Pogacar written all over it, yet he was beaten.

During the climb Pog wanted something from the moto (I presume a gel). After the stage he is seen munching food even on the podium. The way he stalled on the climb it appears to be a fueling issue. I would not be worried if that's the case but still an amateur mistake by Pog.

If this is the case it is not the first time. He looked comfortable until that moment when he started calling team car.

It's just kind of funny you have the need to come up with excuses on behalf of Poga and diminish the work of Vinge. He was beaten today, why cant you guys not applaud Vinge for his impressive efforts that lead to victory in Pogas territory.
He beat a completely cooked Pogacar by half a wheel. It's not that it's not impressive, but it's Pogacar's fault that he misjudged his effort and that's what people are focusing on.
