I would like him to win a 3rd Tour. So if he races 1 week conservatively for that goal, I am going to take it.
I get it, I would like him to win a 3rd Tour also. I would also like to see an incredible race. He animates every race he's in. Love it.

Pages upon pages of people arguing about wheelsucking. Then pages upon pages of people saying Tadej should ride more conservatively. Years and years of watching boring riders (on and off the bike) win Tours. Now we have an absolute legend who attacks at every chance.

I'm old. I'm just gonna enjoy the show and celebrate the kind of riding I want to see. Riders like this just don't come around but once in several generations. The guy is pure panache. He exudes a love of competing, he respects his competitors, and he thinks he's the baddest man on the planet. And he's cool AF.

Ok, lets not get jump to overly early conclusions. After all, he is still leading. I slightly see the odds in Vingegaard's favour as well but its also far from lost.
Yes, but i think the signs have been there from the beginning this Tour, from stage 2, he hasn't been able to get the gap he needs and Vinge is much better than anyone thought and now its only Vinge territory left. Of course only speculation but i see Pogacar loosing minutes in the big mountains.

That is the post I needed after today. Keep the spirit.

Why mean? He must realise that TDF is the race where he will likely meet tough opponent in top shape year after year.

It always comes back to the definition of insanity: "Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."

I did not say the Tour is over but would not bet significant amount on Pogi to still have yellow after finish in Nice.
Yes, judging by the past TDFs smart seems to be a special challenge for him.

Anyway, the mood swings in this thread go from jubilant metaphysical certainties to defeatism in a matter of minutes.

Realistically Pog is still on the drivers seat.

He is. I never was on bonkers watts claims train but I thought double is doable especially after Jonas had missfortune.

Anyway let's enjoy the rest of the tour and count the dead after. We are on for a hell of a second half of the race ;)

Tadej saying to Remco after the stage in confidence that he shouldn't be afraid of Roglic. Roglic not getting picked for the Olympics...

I don't think the two Slovenians are on the best of terms anymore.

Maybe he was talking about Ayuso...

This is the challenge of his cycling career, if he wants to be close to Merckx he needs to win the Tour again! Go Tadej!

Well, if he gets it nobody will say that the double was easy! Vingo coming back to great form, Remco and Rogla also strong. The level at this Tour is probably the highest I've seen in a GT (as far as the first 4 guys are concerned).

I still think Pog/Vingo have another gear in the long mountains compared to Remco and Roglic but this is exciting to see. The big 4 is delivering! Can't wait to see Pogacar in the long mountains, I think he improved there.

His interview about long climbs gives me some hope

Pog is just quoting Terminator 2 Judgement Day, i.e. when the T-1000 tells John Connor's foster parents "I wouldn't worry about him" when referring to Arnold's T-800 model... which is Rog.

Seriously though, if anyone there is worried it's probably Pog (hence some erratic comments lately in the media). Vingegaard & Visma have the almighty 'momentum' now. I suppose Pog probably sees Evenepoel as a potential ally & is encouraging him to go on the offensive.

It's all mind games. I doubt Rogla will even see this quote & if he does he won't give a sh*t. He's too zen to care.

I think he pulled much harder on the descent of Puy Mary than anyone else. Gained 36 seconds on that descent, you're not gonna convince me that is all down to cornering.

I'd expect that over the full Puy Mary-Peyrol section, Pogacar did higher W/kg on average than Vingegaard
My thoughts exactly

Or is this the first sign of the Giro fatigue finally kicking in? Would be wierd if not afterall its never been done in modern time for a reason my guess would go towards that, its the most logical.

I wonder if they were talking afterwards in the team bus..

" Did I precisely said, you do NOT bring any of your Richard Mille-watches to the Tour, did I!"

The danish Eurosport commentators said that this is the first time in his career Pogacar loses a two man sprint. Is that really true?

Obviously he would have lost one in Flanders in 22, but that ended up a four way sprint.
They said 'in the Tour' at least I heard JHB saying like that.

I doubt that Giro thing showed up in 5 kms. The truth is that the light suddenly went out, for some reason . On the hand, Jonas have done an unbelievable effort: guaranteed.

Today he looked bad, but he already looked bad and defeated on the rest day media interview.
He senses Jonas is even stronger than the last 2 years.
