Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

You can't be serious if you don't think Jonas doesn't have big advantage because of his schedule. His only goal is TdF and if he wins Vuelta (with Pogi at race) is just bonus. If Pogi would have TdF and Vuelta as his only goals there would be no discussion at all who is gonna to win it.,Instead he has 8(!!!) goals (4 monuments, 2 GTs and WC double) + 3 big races (Strade, Fleche, Amstel) where everybody else would die just to win one of this races. And on top of that everybody will race against him.
The problem for pogacar this year, if things go in normal conditions, is that Vingegaard will not do the Tour/ Vuelta injured.

Why are we applying common cycling theory on Pogacar when he's basically violating every piece of cycling common sense every year

Because last year he won Giro and LBL without real opponents there, on TdF everybody except him was not in top shape, and then he was 100% rested and prepared for Zürich and Lombardia which again i can't say for others. He didn't compete against Jonas or MvDP in their best form or on the races that suits them better.

I’m not sure 100% rested for Zurich when you have two GT’s fighting each stage in the legs. I don’t see how he was any more rested than his rivals.

He didn’t come up against VDP in the classics last year, when everyone accepts he went up a couple of levels, yet beat him at RVV the year before, when everyone accepts he is stronger now.

If no crashes/injuries, Pog will go to RVV as favourite to win. He beat both vans in 2023 and he is now even better, with a better team.

Incredible how Pogacar was 100% after doing Giro-Tour but riders like MVP or Remco weren't in top shape in GdL or WC. What you don't see is Pogacar wins because he is so much better and for that reason he doesn't have opponents

What does this even mean? A possible crash? Or him not being able to contest the win? I think he will win GW if MVP and WVA aren't there
He means if he shouldnt be able to contest the win and be nr 40 in a race that doesnt suit and he never tried and that he views it as a challenge and a chance to become better above anything else. Pure ciclismo.

Fascinating really that he still has that attitude even after he conquered the world and is the best cyclist to ever exist already. Speak alot about his mentality.

Zürich route was not perfect for MvDP and Remco went in 100% shape to olimpics and that made it much harder for him. I hope you are right because i adore Pogi but i think people are expecting too much after last year. And i am 100% sure if he goes to Vuelta, he will not win all of it (Vuelta+WC+Lombardia).

I know he never had half the talent of Pogacar but if Andy Schleck had the same drive and motivation that Tadej has he likely would have won at least 3 Grand Tours instead of 0/1* depending how you feel about 2010 TDF.

Lucky was Remco in Olympics. If WVA wasn't able to follow MVP, the race would be over for Remco and everyone else.

Certainly he is confident he will with perfect preparation, otherwise the plan isn’t going to Tour/Vuelta. He didn't run to the Giro.
Of course he is not gonna run to the Giro after one defeat and interrupted.
And of course he is confident after 2 Tour wins.
Pogacar was also confident that he can do the double last year, nor he ran to the Giro in 2023.

You were also confident that Vingegaard will drop Pogacar (regardless of injuries) last year, but it never happened. Confidence doesn't always mean success.

Lonzo Borghini rode with the new Colnago bike. Maybe Pogi will debut this bike in UAE Tour too
The colnago y1rs bike seemed to be blowing nice in the wind in UAE tour(non pun intented) I have no idea who these girls are, If im not wrong I think Yates rode it in Oman aswell. I expect Pogacar and the team to roll it out in UAE tour aswell if not somethings is up I think. (keep in mind UAE more or less bought colnago)

Do you know if they already debut this bike? I didn't realise they were riding it

I don't believe this until I see pics
It might be BS but it would be quite believable to be honest.
We know he is in Belgium, and it appears he was doing a RVV recognition with Tim Wellens.

Well... going from:
- Melden, 9700 Oudenaarde, Belgium (Koppenberg - RVV )
to:
- Arenberg, 59135 Wallers, France ( Trouée d'Arenberg - PR )
only takes one hour and ten minutes

Now, does that mean that he's going to actually race P-R in 2025?
I wouldn't say so.
But it makes sense for him to at least start to put his tires on said cobbles.
