Hands on top of the head are his emotions coming out and it looked like he was about to cry tears of joy. That’s not someone saying “oh my god that was the hardest race ever”, it was “oh my god I won”.
.....with a torn up hand, hip, jersey....and fatigue. You don't feel any of it when you cross the line solo. The face and the last 1.5 km posture on the bike said the rest.

500 Swiss Francs fine for not doing the PR stuff -
https://cyclinguptodate.com/cycling...-swiss-francs-by-world-championship-race-jury
Tadej Pogacar came close but was unable to secure himself the Rainbow Jersey on Sunday in Glasgow. Now, the Slovenian has been handed a further blow, being fined by the World Championship race jury.

The reason for Pogacar's fine? "Not respecting instructions of the organizer due to not attending the mix zone after the podium presentation at the start," according to the official decision. Understandably, Pogacar was not fined for missing the post-race mix zone due to him informing the UCI he was feeling unwell and exhausted.

That's kinda crazy as he was obviously really exhausted.

I think this one was for pre race since it says the podium presentation at the start. It makes a point to say Pog wasn’t fined for the post race mix zone being missed.
Exactly, it was the pre-race TV interviews etc after signing in and before the start. No reason was given why he missed all the PR stuff.

Only caught up with the race today and I'm once again super impressed by him. Him being up there in a field full of classics specialists and true hardmen is still amazing to me. And he did that after riding 3 weeks full gas, originally not even planning to go to the WC, while all those other guys had Sunday marked in their calender for a year. That said, I don't think he could have beaten MvdP even if this race had been the sole focus of his season. If you draw a line from the perfect route for Pog on the right to the perfect route for MvdP on the left this lied even further left than the Ronde route. Just a bit too far on the Dutchman's side.

Yes but your point was MVDP was tired in the finishing picture when it was far more a picture of relief and excitement that he won. Of course he’s going to be tired and sore during the race but he and others looked far better than Pog did well after the finish. It reminds me of Evenepoel after the second Giro TT.

Pogacar confirmed he felt good until the short circuit and then suffered badly. He used much energy keeping in contact while MvP was a bit more chill. Once you start losing the rythm and line on a course like that it has to be torture. He looked better than Pog but he was also handing out the pain at that point and sparing nothing.

"I felt good on the easy part of the route. Then I felt bad on the circuit, which is why I only got dropped after 140km of batshit crazy and I finished on the podium"

He looks like a zombie, but at least he gets to spend some time with some old friends, I guess.
I saw a picture of him with Ziga Jerman. Crazy to think Tadej used to help him with the sprints a few years ago and now he is a soigneur working for Ineos.

I think if he ever wants to try and do 2 GTs in one year, (or even just win TdF again against current Vingegaard) he needs to sit down with his team and have a serious conversation about learning to race in a more conservative way. Mathieu had to change his style a bit to achieve certain goals, and I suspect Tadej needs to do the same.
I don't mean that I want him to become a skeletal July monster, just tone it down a bit here and there before hitting the big goal.
