Apparently Matxin has given a press conference today where he have lots of news about Pogacar and his team's schedule in 2024.

Pogacar will target Strade, Tirreno and MSR before the giro and won't do any Flemish or ardenne classic. He will do around 10 race days before the giro.

He confirmed Pogacar will target the giro + tour double.

He said the team that supports Pogacar on giro will be:

Pogacar
Vine
Majka
Grosschrartner
Rui Oliveiroa
Molano
Novak
Bjerg

He also said these riders will target le Tour:

Pogacar
A Yates
Ajuso
Almida

So the plan is:
  • Strade Bianche
  • Milano-Sanremo
  • Catalunya
  • Liège–Bastogne–Liège
  • Giro
  • Tour
  • Olympics RR
  • Québec
  • Montréal
  • Worlds RR
  • Il Lombardia

Edited: LBL was added, Tirreno Adriatico removed and Catalunya added.

The right idea, I was thinking he was going to do Flanders classics or the Ardennes and end up in some kind of battle to the death again, if he keeps it light in the run up to the Giro he might be able to carry the form all the way through to August.

The Tour squad could be hilarious, I wonder if they will send Soler and Fischer-Black again and have them all 'go for their own ambitions'. Probably can't risk looking like an absolute circus in the biggest race but it would still be funny.

I was hoping for this. He urgently needs to win a third GT, and the Giro looks relatively easy in 2024 in terms of course of competition. He will be the big favorite. In the longer term he'll want to win the three Grand Tours, so winning the Giro next year would be a big step.

After the Giro he'll feel whether he has enough left for a good Tour as well. I don't think the Olympics are a major factor, because he will be only one of many contenders there, and it might just be a group sprint. So most likely he'll try to win the Giro and decide afterwards what his next goals will be.

The tour will be absolute chaos anyhow. Might as well throw wrenches into the works themselves

Together 56 race days.

No Flanders or Ardennes classics.

Great plan.

I am surprised no LBL. But maybe this is more of an indication of the seriousness they intend for the tour
I think you are right and with what some are calling a collapse in media coverage, the already important TDF will be more important if that's possible. I know many people who watch no bike racing all year and tune in for the Tour..With total measurement, probably impossible, with YouTube, Facebook and other online media and TV coverage would not be surprised to see records broken for viewership
