Rewatching the Poggio ascent of last year made me more sceptical of Pog winning tbh. Mainly because I thought I remembered MvdP, Van Aert, and Ganna already being on his wheel but they all had to close a gap when he attacked, and especially Van Aert and MvdP closed like an 8 rider gap to Pogacar when he attacked.

I really just don't see a Poggio final km attack like last year working, because I also don't trust Pog to hold a 5s gap to an MvdP on the descent.

If uae wants to win this race they should do the unthinkable. For the first time in the races history capo berta should be raced super hard a bit like 2022 tour stage4 where jumbo exploded the field on 1k 7% climb and vanaert won. once a 30 rider selection is made they dont need to fight for positions for the start of cipressa. Then they launch pogi on cipressa and no one would follow him.
This is what I thought they would do last year to set a searing pace on the Capi but they strung it out but not hard enough to really dampen the legs of the main rivals.

Another good strategy for me would be to try and slingshot Hirschi up the road to be a relay station once Pog attacks on Cipressa and do some pulls on the flat run in to the Poggio.

Ok man, but stop being a charlatan like San millan unless you are trying to be a troll 🤣

VAM of 1327 in a gradient 5% (even if we are missing the distance), in 12 minutes can't never be 8.5 w/kg.

Probably he did 8.5 w/kg during some seconds or a minute(intervals).
Momo it's basically saying Teddy T is cranked up. Not much more can be said outside the clinic

does anyone want to bet with me for a serious number that Wellens will not perform today and that I know better than Baldato, his DS, hey, the UAE published an official tweet yesterday that Wellens is driving today and my person in the UAE tells me that Tadej personally called who he should have and Wellens is currently in Milan 😉😉😉

@Slavique Nuke what do you think, do they know (Baldato and UAE) better, who yesterday published on x official roster and procyclingstats officially includes him, or me 😉, what do you think, I, who have confirmation from Pog personally through my contact or Mauro Gianneti hehehee
Well, you are right - https://www.nieuwsblad.be/cnt/dmf20230830_94424876

UAE misses out briefly, but Wellens goes to Milan after all

The original plan for Tim Wellens was to race the GP of Denain. But at the request of a certain Tadej Pogacar, our compatriot was added to the line-up for the first monument of the year at the last minute. Still, it was a bit of a shock when the Emirates team announced its line-up for the GP of Denain and Wellens was on it. A mistake, as our editors have confirmed.
Wellens is currently on his way to Italy where he plans to pilot Tadej Pogacar to victory on Saturday.

Well if pog gets a 15sec gap on cipressa, no one will peg him back. The big question is how to get the gap.

The technicians are working to do everything possible and guarantee passage for the Milan Sanremo cyclists on the coastal road. If the intervention is not completed in time, the route of the Classicissima will undergo a change and the bikes will be forced to pass through the Manie. We don't yet know if it will be necessary to divert it ", explains the mayor of Finale Ugo Frascherelli. "If the road remains closed the race will pass through the Manie", he says.
