I will be at Isola 2000. No way he loses the race there, surely
Yes the finish is Isola 2000 but they have to climb Bonette before that on the same stage, even if that isn’t a MTF. Some think ability at altitude is simply a reflection of form but every Tour now Pog had question marks at over 2,000 metres. Even 2020 Pogacar lost 15 secs to Roglic on Col de la Loze. Then there was last years implosion on the same mountain even if that might have been explained by other factors.

here is the UAE Plan for Saturday-Domen is the nanny of Pog until the last 50km of the race, then to 3 coppi covi, ullisi, and hirschi will reduce the peloton as much as they can and they won't be able to do much, I tell you that in advance, the key player is Mcnulty who was ordered to Cippresa full gas as if a leopard is catching him and if Mcnulty reduces the peloton to 30-40 names and he could, his task is to drag full gas to Poggio and the first 200-300 m as much as he can, then Wellens takes over the game full gas and then Pog destroys everything and stays at 100% in the 2024 season, and now one thing is wishes, and another is possibilities, Mcnulty is the key here...
Difficult to drop van der poel on 3km, 3% poggio its like a sprint for him it would be better to go full gas with the team on capo berta 1.7k 7% and try to make it hard for van der poel on cipressa. In a 5k climb i am convinced pog would drop him.

Hoping he can prevail again in the tour and turn his attention to other goals on the calendar. It's insane to track a rider attempting all of this stuff. I always assumed Merckx was a product of the times when not as many riders were as serious and/or specifically trained for terrains. And I am probably unfairly wrong at that. But to see a current rider with these qualities picking off impossible tasks is a joy.
no one is like Pog in the history of cycling, not even Merckx, those were other times when people wiped their asses with leaves, when people worked in the post office, bank, construction in the morning and raced in the afternoon, so there is only modern cycling for me and Merckx it's not part of modern cycling, it's like someone telling me that Rod Laver is better than Federer and he played with the racket with which squash is played now, people are nostalgic so they are forgiven

I don't know though. Merckx was just an absolute freak. They raced almost every day of the calendar then and he still still beat all comers.

It looked to me like Wellens was simulating this gameplan today at Nokere with driving what looked like 95% for a period of time before sitting up to not go too deep.

and now on the Faroe Islands they look after cows in the morning and play the league in the afternoon and the first scorer of the championship scored 50 goals for them in the season, that does not mean that he is a top scorer, but that he is the best of the desperate competition

I would say a reduced group of 30 really is about the best they could hope for on the cipressa, no?
If uae wants to win this race they should do the unthinkable. For the first time in the races history capo berta should be raced super hard a bit like 2022 tour stage4 where jumbo exploded the field on 1k 7% climb and vanaert won. once a 30 rider selection is made they dont need to fight for positions for the start of cipressa. Then they launch pogi on cipressa and no one would follow him.

they don't have the team for such a thing, to replace Covi, Ullisi, Hirsci with Bjerg, Morgado, Del Toro, and then it would make sense to put pressure on Capo Berta and Cipressa, there wouldn't be 10 people left in peloton after Cipressa

These tactics still suit MVP because the parcours just aren't hard enough, imho. Unless they can catch him *** around in the back of the peleton, he is going to be in any selection. It still comes down to the poggio and if Pogi can gap and is just that much stronger to stay away.

Well, talking of their team selections and tactics they are an absolute shambles! When i saw the roster I couldn't believe polit wasn't there. For a race like san remo he is one of the best in positioning ur leaders for a start of a climb.

If McNulty is the key, wouldn't it be wiser to withdraw the whole team and concentrate on other races? Why waste energy unnecessarily?
well, I don't even consider San Remo a race but a ciciban race, it's a shame that it's a monument and the Strada isn't, but what do I know😅, I nicely said that we're waiting for Catalonia so that the blind can finally see
