He cannot.

He should be winning Lombardia and consolidating the best season ever:

2 GT + Worlds + 2 Monuments + many more victories.
It'd be hard to motivate oneself past what he's done. If he continues that may be his largest challenge; himself. He definitely closed debate on "the best season ever" and who is the greatest of a generation. Maybe win another Tour against all healthy rivals to drive the point home and silence the equivocations.

His eyes are on Eddie records. He might not say even to himself, but deep down inside he must want it so badly.

He needs 3 more seasons with Giro-Tour double and then he can chill winning 1 Vuelta.

I have sincere doubts that is achievable in this age. The parity and preparation is much, much closer than Eddy's time. IMO he doesn't need to win all of those to be the greatest for this era; just the stamina to win the ones that mean something to him. He'll also be fighting against another generation from here on out.

Surely it wasn't planned in advance to be so early. It was very risky with strong peleton behind. Pogacar was very strong but normally a move with 25-50 km to go would be safer (I don't doubt he was the strongest today and would've gaped other faves), he just feared those guys ahead may get out of reach at some point.
Or that he would find himself having to respond to attacks from others later.

Watching the highlights it appears as the Slovenian strategy was flawless. Roglic setting tempo to keep things close and Tratnik assisting the winning bridge move. It could've been a different outcome without those key assists and the team should be super proud.
I think it was Novak who did a massive pull before Pogs attack?

I frankly didnt see much of Roglic here except for being right behind the other teammates.

Other guys like Grovekar and Primozic did more work. From what I saw, at least. Novak and then ultimately Tratnik.

The best race I have ever watched by the best rider I have ever seen!
True and listen people. People cheer for everyone but people should still imo be able to call it like it is.

Pog is the best thats clear everyone knows that ive certaintly said it while its nothing to say everyone knows that just a few like to do wishful thinking to some extent. For instance while i know Pog is best like everyone, Evenepoel I love that guy too whats not to love about him as a cyclist? Evenepoel is pretty clear overall the second best rider in the world and even historically strong, hes young and everything, same applies for Vingeggard in GT, just cause that Pogacar is so much better for instance like he is doesnt mean Evenepoel isnt a historic great rider like he is even its just that Pogacar is better than anyone weve ever seen its no shame in that - CLEARLY no matter who you like that much is clear after this 100km solo like cmon. Yes we can be in awe of him like ofc 100km solo noone ever done that its unheard of etc but doesnt mean people need to bash Evenepoel he is just as great as he was yesterday too, a historic great rider along with MVDP just enjoy it everyone its a f.... epic era were watching thats even from a historic perspective.

aknowledging that Evenepoel for instance is a all time great already is not hard to see or do no matter who you support

Ppl comparing Eddy to Pog in terms of best at this point its nothing but laughable and nostalgia, it has no merrits. Pogacar is so much stronger/better its ridiculous. The greatest is another discussion on the other hand.

Novak did a massive pull that put everyone close to the edge but not long after Roglic went to the front and put in a short stint that thinned the group a bit setting the scene for Pog to light the matches and blast away.

Its bad ppl do this cause Pog is so much better its obvious is rather stupid to discuss to the point it can be called trolling thats how much better he is honestly than anyone else at this point. But Evenepoel in itself is soooo fxxxx good too its just that Pog is better but thats not saying Evenepoel isnt a beast cause he is its no shame beeing second best behind Pog cause noone else in the history is also second to him, its no shame. I too aknowledge Evenepoel as a rouler and overall racer is a ver very rare and special.
Right now, the excuse is: Remco was not in his best days. Really?

But I am not talking anymore about lesser riders here lol

Pog lost 30 seconds from the favorites from the beginning of the final circuit and I could not watch until the time gap stabilized. Thrilling race, daring tactics.
Gap was closing while Skuijns and Healy were on their own as they were cooperating superbly with medals for all. That made me a little nervous but was always confident that the moment they got caught Group 2 dynamics would kick in and the rest would sabotage each other.

The tactics was in shambles, this was just a portray of pure strenght like no other. 100km solo in WC with the best all fighting to catch you, never been done doubt it will in modern cycling. Complete show of pure strenght/dominance.
Actually, Pog's move eliminated any team strength from the other contenders. It would have been an entirely different race without Pog's move to bridge to the front group.

The real strength came when Pog put Tratnik at the front of the lead group and told him to pull with with all his might as long as he could.
