I found his first win way more emotional. His 2nd LBL was a big letdown for cycling. We lost a duel between Pogi and Remco and probably a fair duel between Vingo and Pogi in the Tour.

It was a let down indeed, but he completely destroyed the opposition. It was a very tough day with all that rain.

We don't have a world champion of this level since Bernard Hinault and the last man to win the Tour and WC in the same season is Greg Lemond. 35 years later! I will be sad if Pogacar don't ride a full classics program next season alongside Tour-Vuelta.

I want that rainbow jersey fighting for monuments and the Tour. It was also 34 years ago, a world champion doesn't win the Tour wearing the rainbow jersey in that race (1990 Lemond).

Sainz also posted a video on X showing himself, Pogačar, and the Slovenian's partner, Liv AlUla Jayco rider Urška Žigart, out on a recovery ride. In the video, the new world champion asks for his F1 companion's opinion on his signature bread snack. "They say it's good for a hangover," Sainz responds. Pogačar concurs. "It's good for a hangover, I can tell you that," he says with a smirk.

He won the race he really wanted to win this season. Vuelta was never on his mind, this WC was very important to him. Somehow he has been feeling some guilty about his "underperformances" with a slovenian jersey.

that's the case every year, though, and the only recent World Champion who did well in the race right after was Alaphilippe in 2020.

But yeah, even with subpar preparation, Pogacar is probably still on another level.
