Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

No radios help Pogacar instead of riders more robotics like Vingegaard. I found very curious when Pogacar told Politt how Vingegaard seems nervous when he doesn't have teammates with him.

Weaker teams and no radios normally create more chaos and help underdogs...unless the favourite behaves like an underdog and attacks 100 km from the line!

Haha, I mostly look at PCS. But as the saying goes, you can proof anything with statistics.
But PCS is not great. Freddy Maertens has better seasons than 2024 Pogacar according with PCS. We all know this is not true. I could say others like Moser, De Vlaeminck, Jalabert.
For example Saronni and Hinault have the same points in 1979 (Hinault best season for PCS).

Duh goes without saying but still. Its not close at all. If Pogacar is not 100% then its close if he is 100% weve seen it time and time again recently at this Tour when everyone was doing their best numbers - where they said they was at their best and it was faaar from close. Lance and Bruynel W there but kinda obv and common sense.

Forget the double in 2025. The TT takes too much out of the legs.
TT is not the big either imo. Looked at the circuit for WC next year and he will be huge fav again yeah.
Pogacar is retiring after the 2036 season on my pcm22 save.
Is Pcm22 a game like fm or something? didnt even know it existed but now i dont play any games at all. Lets hope he retires in 2036 then:sweatsmile: He has spoiled us all tbh, how can watch cycling now, every race he is not in you just know it would be different and a level up if he is there.

Their point is simply that Vingegaard (while being an amazing stage-racer) has no versatility of Pogacar and no achievements in one-day races.

Like I said, you can proof anything with statistics. It all depends on how you assign a numeric value to whatever you deem important.

Thats even more obvious yeah. He struggle even in GT where the stages surpass 210km + but yeah. Great rider dont get me wrong the second best GT rider atm so I mean no disrespect, no shame in that.

Its just that its so blatantly obvious in reality the level Pogacar has is so far from anyone else - ever. He has actually spoiled us to oblivion, he simply shouldnt be able to retire. Like watching fotball without messi and Barcelona now its depressing af in comparison. Luckily he is only 26:sweatsmile:

Im curious how much he cares about Giro dell'Emilia this time around? Mainly cause he havent won it ?

Lombardia a given (he gonne all inn 110%) and its gonne be the perfect way to end the perfect season. Hoping Roglic and Evenepoel put up a awesome race too. Evenepoel and Pog to the finish together would be epic but its a rather tall ask to ask for.

It's all about Lombardia, methinks. He wants to win Emilia OFC but getting stomped by Rogla again won't cause long-time frustration.

Win this year and it puts himm second on list of most winners and one behind Coppi's five.
Seemingly achievable, but Eddy's seven Milan SanRemo's probably not.

If Pog wins Lombardy #4 this year then winning 7 of them will be quite realistic. He still needs to get it done OFC.

Yeah, Lombardia is the big prize. He can be the first rider ever to win the same monument 4 consecutive times.

Coppi won Lombardia 4 times in a row actually.

When has he struggled when stages go above 210km?

How difficult it is to achieve what Tadej has done can be perhaps grasped by looking back a bit.

It is the beginning of March, first race, the Strade Bianche.
There are 14 winners of Strade in history (since 2007) and they are big names. Only two (at the time) are multiple winners, Kwiatkowski and Cancellara.
You appear on the start of your first race of the season. Do you say to yourself "I'll do this race and ease myself into the rhythm, no pressure, I have big plans (the Tour) later in the season" or do you attack with 80+kms to go because deep inside you want to win this race, then Catalunya, Liege, the Giro, the Tour, Montreal, become the World Champion and then conclude with Emilia, Varesine and Lombardia?

You are at the start of Strade. There is Pidcock, Mohorič, Laporte, Hirschi, Wellens, .. In order for your Grand Plan to work, you must not start losing right now, but winning. Even winning this one race for mere mortals is near impossible, let alone making you a famous cyclist in your country.
But then on the start of Liege you will have to face Van Der Poel. And then do the improbable and win the Giro on your first try.
And if you succeed in all that improbability, you're merely at the start.

You have to appear at the greatest race of all, the mighty Tour, facing your ultimate nemesis Vingegaard who cracked you two times already. Many saying you will never win another Tour again. And at the same time do the impossible mythical "double" that has been achieved only a couple of times in the stange black and white days of past, sometimes under suspicious circumstances.
And then, then you plan to also become the World Champion.

Seems like a great PCM campaign, trying some new cheat codes you got from a friend. Seems like a game.

And this is not enough for you. Denying the existence of reality you use the Force and improvise the greatest escape in history of World Championships to put an exclamation point on your rainbow yersey.

Of course, this is not some grand 5-year plan or a career tick-off, this is what you intend to do in the next 7 months.
And it all starts on one crazy Saturday in March.

After 200 kilometers of racing, you are tired. The second flat tire has really done you in. There is a group uproad, some 15 minutes in front, that's probably going to battle it out for the glory. You decide not to waste this beautiful day on too much stress and wave to your team car for another drink.
