I like to look the bookies odds on things as they give a dispassionate take on things as they are in the business of making money and managing risk not in favouring any outcome.

What is happening as of Jan 2025 is something that would have been utterly inconceivable even 5 years ago which is that the current Tour de France champion and heavily odds on favourite is also shorter than even money favourite to win RVV.

Pogacar is the only dual TDF/RVV winner in their career in the 50 years since Merckx last won the race in 1975 and in that period amongst the winners list for RVV only Gianni Bugno (1994), who won a Giro and had a 2nd in the Tour, has even had top five finish in a Grand Tour.

It is easy to forget just how uniquely special the things are that Pogacar is achieving.

Trying to read significance into the number of posts in a thread sounds like something likely to lead to junk posting in order to boost it. Please don't.
You mean trying to boost post counts? That practice was infinitely worse in the past. No, I was simply trying to gauge the popularity of the forum today compared to years past. Honest questions, nothing sinister. When I get time I'll ask the question in the Forum feedback.

On Beyond the Peloton they mention UAE riders training and being "on the volcano" does that mean the Zwift route or something else? Thanks
Many teams have altitude camps on volcanic islands. Think Tenerife. I don't believe most riders are at elevation at this time of year. In the parlance of that podcast, I think it just means they're at a training camp.

It indeed is. Same goes if anyone said 5 years ago the big fav in WC would attack 100km from the line vs a entire peloton of top riders in the world, with helpers, its just not normal.

Its reached a point where its completely uncharted territory, what were seeing, thats just the reality of it.

Only if the rules have changed since this was published, and I don't see anything newer on a google search.
I didnt think it was the case either, I just saw it on twitter someone saying it was. Your likely right. I dont see anyhing newer either about rules.

Only thing i can find is this:

The UCI and its partner Santini Cycling are pleased to announce the launch of a design competition entitled ‘Design the UCI World Champion rainbow jersey of the future’.

Participants are encouraged to unleash their creativity while respecting the tradition of the jersey’s signature rainbow stripes. The only design requirement is to maintain the current five colours — blue, red, black, yellow, and green — in their traditional sequence.

Bicycling jorunalist - However, the UCI’s new competition isn’t aiming for a radical overhaul but rather a creative reimagining. Contestants are tasked with offering a fresh twist on the jersey while preserving its essential elements—the iconic rainbow stripes in their current colors. The competition is open to everyone, from professional designers to cycling enthusiasts, with submissions accepted through social media or at Santini booths during the event in Zurich, Switzerland, which runs from September 21-29. Entries close on Sunday, September 29, at 23:59 CET.

This just a gimmick marketing thing for a totally different purpose I assume but not quite sure? To what extent this jersey is meant or when or whatever I dont know. But only thing I could find.
