If the rest of the team don’t use it in the next races then something more suspect is happening in regards the bike.

if the other riders (those whowere not at uae tour) wanted to use the new bike, they would have used it in these first races of the season like algarve, ruta del sol, down under, valenciana, they are all minor races, and when you have to get used to a new bike you need to do it in the winter and in the first less relevant races. So I have no doubt that other riders will not use the bike in the coming races, especially hard races, maybe only in entirely flat races, because they have not used it in this period when they could have adapted to the new bike. My only doubt and worry is that, since pog is a huge marketing figure for the team and for colnago he will have to use the new bike in races where it does not make any sense. The first example of this was clearly today on Jabel Hafeet. On a climb like that an heavy bike like that is really bad. I just hope this will not be repeated outside of uae tour, and pog never uses it anymore

I will write again later after we see Vingegaard's level at Algarve but Pog's level this week has not been impressive at all.

As I said for Vingegaard, he doesn't need to be on top now, especially if he still somehow considers the Vuelta. Shouldn't be surprising if he doesn't destroy SB as well.

But yeah, considering his level last year much more was expected.

I will write again later after we see Vingegaard's level at Algarve but Pog's level this week has not been impressive at all.

I think Pog just did what was necessary in this race and had some fun but also to get some extra training. Saving some matches for what is to come this spring. Maybe with a potentially backloaded season as well, if he decides to race a second GT, it is wise.

The performance was controlled and dominant, which in itself is impressive. No drama.

He is in a pretty good place atm and focused on the rest of the spring.

Thats properly good so other can win something. Some people already loosing their mind, thought we had to wait untill October before cycling is dead again, then hyperbole into its close again, just to repeat the cycle.

Yes. He is clearly the best rider right now and he still isn't close to his best. He wasn't impressive but was good enough against a huge headwind on the climb.

I think impressive is just the wrong word to use, when comparing only Pog to himself.

He won comfortably and in a controlled manner. Dominant. Did what he needed to do and some extra training on a day where he could have just rolled in the bunch, if he wanted.

Good start to the season. Thats all we really needed to see here.

Pog by almost chilling did 6.7w/kg for 27 mins and wins his 1st race of the year and sivakov pulling off andalucia👏 Its job done uae for the perfect sunday cause i dont trust almeida for any race let alone against ving & roglic

It was a monster headwind and he even stopped pushing at the end (properly for the best so people can cope and make a wish foundation someone can follow him on climbs) and greeted the ''crowd'' not even pushing..

After the data from the climb is out Pog's performance from today is much better than people (including me) thought. I underestimated the headwind. I am 100% sure he would have been even 30 secs faster if he needed to make up time but he was chilling in the last 1-2 kms.

Wait for SB. He has been better than everyone else mate and he is training more to classics. Last year, he just competed in March so I will wait for March to compare him.

I think in SB he might be conservative although I doubt it haha. I think that YavorD has a point that Pogi might be thinking that he has a long season ahead of him (including July and August) so he needs to start slowly and keep ramping up his level through the races.

Of course, he did this climbing performance after a huge headwind (25 kph) and after echelons all stage. Gaps are very big for this type of stage/climb.

if u look at pogs starava he spend 4k calories in this stage like he did in tour de france stage 15 so it was pretty hard day in break i guess and 35 degres

This was 50s gap before easing off in the final 2km after a hard, rouleur friendly day vs pocket climbers.

It's about as precisely bang on expectation as it could get.
