Jorgenson is becoming an all-round super-domestique like Wout used to be in some previous Tours. He's very good on any terrain, one of the best riders in the world since the last season.

Most (all) of the mountain stages are all about the MTF. The team isn't overly important on these stages.

But yeah, Jorgenson is Van Aert on steroids.

Agree, although biased towards climbing and away from sprinting and TT compared to WvA. Wout is a sprinter who can (sometimes) climb well and TT with the best. Jorgenson is still essentially a climber.

Glad to see Matteo has a chance to win this race, he deserves a shot. But on the flip side, as mentioned by others, I am confused why Sepp Kuss has gone so quiet after his 2023 heroics for that team?

I wonder how he’ll be used though. We haven’t seen his climbing this season but for now, I still don’t see him as a threat where Pogi will have to respond to his attacks (and he has Almeida and Yates for that).

It is true but I can see a scenario of Jorgenson attacking and UAE is not able to respond. Maybe I'm overestimating a bit but he is improving a lot.

It's really about wheather Jorgenson is any GC thread to Pogacar. Even if Pog's doms can't catch Jorgenson they should be able to limit the loss before Pog and Vingo engage in battle royale at stages ends.

Yeah, he would still have to be close on GC... but they already did that tactic once against Pog at the Tour with Roglic.

I find it more likely they will try to use Jorgenson in the same way they did in the last Tour. He paced before Vinge attack on Plateu de Beille, but Pog was just stronger.

Jorgenson looks really strong now, but he was at this stage last year as well. If he has improved massively once again fair play, but right now I feel like it is only marginal gains from here.

I think the key for Visma is starting well and getting into the lead. Control and defense mode. That Pog spends too much energy and cant drop Vinge. Take more time in the ITT. Jorgenson being able to pace until the very end on many hard stages. Time runs out for Pog.

For sure, and Pog might just be as good as last year or marginally better as well.

Long way to go until the Tour though. A lot can happen until then.

Roglic was regarded a serious thread by Pog and therefore it paid off on Telegraphe/Galibier. As for Jorgenson it's either standard domestique duties (pacing the climbs hard) or getting into breakaways and helping Vingo with a long-range attack.

Jorgenson looks strong but more evidence needed, He was strong late in the '24 Tour but I vividly recall the ease with which Pog caught and dropped him on Isola 2000. I don't think Pogacar will be lured into chasing Matteo like he fell into the trap with Roglic on the Galibier. A fresh and uninjured Jonas is still the big worry for Pogacar and that is the only wheel he should cover.

Outside of Visma, I think Roglic and maybe Remco might need watching. We should remember Remco is even younger than Pog and should be better than his already very good level in 2024. But Remco is recovering after a bad crash in December.

A factor in what? Roglic will be cooked after the Giro and Remco is not good enough in the mountains. Pogacar can win in any mountain stage 1 minute easily to Roglic or Remco.

I think that is a little premature. It depends how soon he gets back to full training. Remco was very good in the mountains in the '24 Tour. The best we have seen. And at his age he should only improve.

Not to mention that he has been out of racing for 458 days when you combine all his injuries. That alone gives him some room for improvement too. Unless he already peaked, but he keeps improving so such a conclusion can't be made.

He's also only 25 yo so may improve due to entering his optimal age. IMO he won't reach as high level as Pog or Vingo this year but it's possible that he will get closer and become a threat during editions from 2026 on.

P.S. Remco likely focusing on Pogi and Jonas way too much to be a factor at this years edition.
