Looks like your hopes abide. When Almeida puts the tempo, Roglic will suffer a lot in the Tour. And we have to see if he doesn't crash before.

After today’s passive efforts on a stage where a concerted effort to be aggressive could have paid off it is much harder for people to be annoyed if Pogacar had simply waltzed off into the distance on that 10km climb. Some people blame Pogacar's dominance but races without him seem somewhat empty (maybe my fanboyism speaking). But this Giro has a good startlist and I hope UAE can fight Roglic, even if I'm not too convinced.
This. A lot of GTs I watched in my life with small differences between favorites were very boring. Giro 2022, Giro 2023, Tour 2019, Tour 2017 and I'm not including a lot of Vueltas. The problem is that suspense isn't always entertaining.
The 2022 and 2023 Giros had suspense due to a lack of action.
I prefer more action, even if the suspense ends sooner.
Watching only one day of action on the 21st stage isn't much different than seeing a Tour de France decided on stage 8 iff in both cases there has only been one day of action. Watching 20 days of inaction doesn't provide any more entertainment.
Yup and you will see how I am right.Looks like your hopes abide.
I think some people just don't like how dominant he is. It doesn't matter if Pogacar is racing conservatively or aggressively, what matters is in the end of the day, Pogacar will win easily. After today’s passive efforts on a stage where a concerted effort to be aggressive could have paid off it is much harder for people to be annoyed if Pogacar had simply waltzed off into the distance on that 10km climb.
I think both Jonas and Remco would be capable of it as well,.I think some people just don't like how dominant he is. It doesn't matter if Pogacar is racing conservatively or aggressively, what matters is in the end of the day, Pogacar will win easily.
In GTs? Just Vingegaard.I think both Jonas and Remco would be capable of it as well,.
Remco looks like a different rider in stage races. In GTs? Just Vingegaard.
Roglic will not finish in the top5.
Barring crashes, I expect Roglic to be fighting Evenepoel for third while the other two are further up the road.
Remember that Roglic was in the 2024 Tour de France and in the mountain stages he was closer to Remco than Pogacar.
In the first time trial, he lost 20 seconds to Pogacar. But the most important thing is that Roglic was never able to keep up with Pogacar during his attacks in mountain.
Roglic has only been on Pogacar's level when Pogacar was a neopro. Over the years, the gap has only widened.
Last year at the Tour, there was a clear gap between them. Until the day he retired, Roglic was never a rival to Pogacar. Not even in Lioran, which was Pogacar's worst stage.
Don't talk as if Roglic didn't exist in the 2024 Tour. We've already seen the difference between him and Pogacar.
Roglic was at Remco's level, not even Vingegaard's.
He just is a better one day racer than stage racer. He isn't naturally built to climb.Remco looks like a different rider in stage races.
One of the many reasons he hasn't won one of the seven main one-week races.
Roglic is 35 years old so Giro-Tour is a huge task for older riders. If he wasn't able to perform well last year, he will not be great this year.Of course Rogla won't finish top 5, it's like saying Pogi will finish top 5. That si just wrong category to be in in the first place.
Considering so many crystal balls, with capability of such accurate predictions, one would expect much more lotto winners, or people getting rich betting in cycling.
IMHO Rogla did OK at the Tour 2024, considering it was a transitional year. Put Pogi or Jonas in another, arguably less developed at that time, team and lets see if they win the Tour at their first season riding for a new team. So if we take Rogličes performance at the Tour 2024 and reasonably assume he will perform better at Tour 2025. That is IMHO enough.
Like I already said, he is the third best GT rider so any GT without Vingegaard or Pogacar, he is the number one favorite.@Peyroteo94
First of all Rogla was the only cyclist last season to win a GT, besides Pogi. Secondly, as said, given the circumstances involved, It's reasonable to expect Rogla will do even better this season. As for the age, when Rogla started his cycling career some already thought he was too old, Rogla went ahead and did it anyway.
1 - He is getting older (younger riders will improve more)
2 - More important: his preparation will not be perfect this year (Giro in his legs)
He is getting older and closer to his retirement so one day he will lose to younger riders. Father time is unbeatable.Been hearing that for at least half a decade now and if you look at races such as Lombardia, Rogla is only getting better and better, each attempt.
If Rogla would do a stage race more plus some classics, that would be rather similar in terms of effort. So that is that and one thing Rogla needs the most now is his GT team. Team building at Giro is hence a perfect strategy to prepare for the Tour. UAE is currently arguably the best team in the pro peloton, Rogličes team beating them at the Giro, that would hint they are ready. To support Rogla at the Tour. So lets see in week three if the team is already up to the job, all in all i feel that progress will be made.
That's because they're underestimating what Pogacar achieved. As he did it, it now seems anyone can do it, when only a few have achieved it, and Pogacar did it after 26 years.Roglic is 35 years old so Giro-Tour is a huge task for older riders. If he wasn't able to perform well last year, he will not be great this year.
Now, some people think Giro-Tour is possible because Pogacar was able to do itThat's because they're underestimating what Pogacar achieved. As he did it, it now seems anyone can do it, when only a few have achieved it, and Pogacar did it after 26 years.
And none of them were over 30, except for Coppi, who was the most dominant rider of his era.
Roglic isn't even one of the top two Tour de France favorites of his year.
There are two cyclists who achieved the double without having won the Tour de France before. Roche, who also won the World Road Championship, which tells how dominant his year was. Roglic was domestique last year at Zurich. And Pantani, words are superfluous to describe Pantani and that year.
How about we just let this soak and never get back to it.So basically what all of you got is the age argument? How is that one working out for you in real life? Older people, like dad, mom, gramps, never beat you to it?
Let that one soak in for a while.
How about we just let this soak and never get back to it.
This is the beauty of cycling. Tell me other sport where you are so closed to your heroes?Cyclists have a lot of patience. No other elite athlete has to put up with fans following them during training.
