I know but this is just stupid. Cycling is the only sport that when u are the best you should just stop winning , because otherwise you are disrespectful..
Yes. What was Federer supposed to do after his 2004 season?
Every sport had guys dominating the field. This doesn't happen only in cycling.
Snooker: Hendry
Athletics: Bolt
Tennis: Federer
In these sports, I don't listen complaints about their dominance.

What? Biggest star by a huge margin in Athletics.

Well just never cared for his antics waving with the hands infront of eyes, headbobbing into the camera etc. Not to mention when he tried to go professional in football at the age of 30 or whatever claiming he would do well in United and stuff.

Guess part of it is also that he was so marketed and as someone who don't really find 9-20 second events that entertaining you couldn't really choose to avoid him even if you wanted to.

What are the supposed to say? Don't bother watching, Pogi will will 12 stages and GC by 10 minutes? Of course they're going to big up Vingegaard. FWIW I hope they're right. Not that he wins necessarily, but that he's competitive against Pogi. I also kind of think Gilbert was right too - Pogi needs to be a little bit careful how he comes across, especially if he is this dominant during the Tour. He's got a lot of residual good will from the 2023 Tour, but I don't think a re-run of 2024 is going to make him more popular with a lot of people (and especially the French public). I din't think Gilbert was saying he shouldn't win, but just remember his opponents and be careful what he says.

I say all this as a Pogacar fan, but I don't enjoy the dominant wins as much as the big fights (MSR this year being a great example).

Pogacar wasn't disrespectful. It isn't his fault he is so much better than his rivals. He goes hard in training maybe to look easy on road racing. Behind these "effortless" wins, there are hours of suffering, away from home and Gilbert as a former cyclist should know this. Or Was he cocky for making the Ardennes treble easy, even ziguezagged all the way in FW.

Yes. Federer dominated tennis for at least four years, 2004-2007. But after that he was overwhelmed by Nadal and then Djokovic.

In the end, statistically, Federer became the third best tennis player in the Open Era, behind Nadal at number two and Djokovic at number one.

History will record, if Pogi will be like Federer, then who will be Nadal and Djokovic?

I'm not saying Pogi is Federer, I'm just saying Federer dominated tennis and people did not complain like we see with Pogacar.

Yes, what about some freaks like Phelps, Jon Jones, Duplantis. There were dominant record breakers in the recent years for sure. Pogacar is now on fire, but you never know how long it will last.
