I listened to Laurent Jalabert comment on Pogi performance during stage 7 of Dauphine.

He says actually Vingegaard wasnt that far in terms of shape from Pogi. He says he looked more tired because he gave his all the last 500m, and Pogi went easy.

He said Pogi and Vingo gave about the same effort and they climbed about at the same speed. Most of the difference was made during the initial Pogi attack which he says maybe Vingo wasnt feeling confident enough in himself to really commit and try to follow Pogi.

He still commented after the finish line that Vingo was looking exhausted and that it was a hard day for him.

That’s traditionally what you want to do and jalabert knows as well as anyone how you finish off the training and show up in July

Watched the Jens Voigt interview on cyclingdane, He has lots of interesting things to say, picks Pogacar for the win, thinks margin will not be dominant
He didn’t sound very clued in generally though as he seemed convinced Ayuso would be in the UAE tour and was surprised to hear informed that Simon Yates was riding.

Also thought Bernal would be there and Ben O’Connor was a dark horse podium contender.

To be fair his stage by stage previews were worth listening to.

Is Pogacar happy watching Almeida at Suisse? He enters every climb at 50th position and looks too average compared to this weak competition. Maybe he is undercooked if he came down late from altitude.
I hope he improves significantly for the Tour.

This is not true. The initial attack put 5-8s on Jonas, the the time gap increased slowly til 33s under the flamme rouge.

Pogacar won't be concerned. Almeida is riding himself into form at Suisse. Will be primed for July.

Also very different riding styles needed to ride for your own result than for a leader. He is having to measure his efforts carefully in Suisse because the rest of the UAE team have left him isolated very early in most of the selective moments.

To be fair it’s a weak GC field here with only Almeida as a likely top 5 prospect for the upcoming TDF so he really should win.

Pog at the moment is wondering how he lost 2 tdfs seeing his level turnaround since last year. I think he has made an even better leap this year. Imo the gap to jonas this year will be even bigger unfortunately for the audience
Vingegaard is a monster GC rider. He deserved those Tours.
