Not even Sivakov accompanies him.

In Sierra Nevada, when he did the hardest train seasons, he always did it alone.

yep, this climb is probably even a tiny bit harder than the side of loze they do this year

I just don't get why everyone is climbing Col de la Loze, Plagne,etc and he is climbing mythical climbs in Italy. Last year, he knew every corner of Isola because he climbed there more than 20x.

at this point he knows all the climbs of the tour (through recons, racing there...). Imo he wants to do the training camp before the tour in isola because of habit, and because he can get very good feedback on his level comparing his data of last year on the same climbs. Fauniera is probably the only climb he added this year (it's not far from isola)

No one can follow him, it's normal. The day he was training with Narvaez, I believe he wasn't training with Narvaez all day. In any world, Narvaez can (after 4 hours) follow Pogacar when he is doing a true zone two ride (almost in zone 3). He was pushing 330 watts (HR around 145) after 4 hours! No way Narvaez, in a climb, can do that.

Wow, legendary Fauniera is the most wanted climb to be back in the Giro. When will we see it again? Definitely among the most difficult climbs ever used in GTs (and more difficult than anything the Tour ever featured), the last 16 km have an average of over 9%. Looks mamooth on a profile:

Giro is the best race in the world because it's very easy to create an incredible race there. However, Vegni chooses to make the most boring race possible. I don't get it.

Giro has the best climbs also with the best views, that's for sure. And yeah, they could use them better.

Pogi will probably just pay for the inclusion of climbs he likes out of his own pocket someday.

it's not as easy as you make it. Giro's problem is his collocation in may. In May there's a high risk of having bad weather if you go above 2000 meters and the most iconic and hard italian climbs (stelvio, gavia, agnello, fauniera...) go way above 2000m. In the past it was not a huge problem but today with all the drama from the riders association and the safety discussions as soon there is even the risk of bad weather the stage would be cancelled, and that's a problem because there are always economic motives behind GT stages. Vegni can't do nothing

there are a lot of discussions in italy about bringing it back. One of the problems is/was the state of the road, especially in the last Kms. But as you can also see from the video they have renewed large portions of it in the last year. The remaining problem (which also concerns other big italian climbs) is the altitude, which makes it likely that the stage is cancelled, and that's a problem for the organizers

fauniera is even higher, it goes to 2500 meters, look at the last two giros, no climb went that high (stelvio last year was cancelled). But I think one day fauniera will be back, as you said is one of the hardest climbs ever in a GT

I just meant that Fauniera is less "dangerous" than Gavia or Stelvio regarding cancellation. Sure, it's higher than Finestre and more risky in this sense.
