So Pieper is a bit worried that Vinge might have more in the tank than Pog in the 3rd week. Why he thinks this is not said out loud, but there seems to be two reasons: 1) Due to Pog's "overconfidence" he might ride too hard the first two weeks, 2) Vinge is probably more rested than Pog due to Pog's tough spring campaign.

If he has a point I'm not sure. Pog has such a high level that he wins even when he isn't at his highest level. And we thought he was tired after Amstel and then he crushed the competition in FW and LBL.

Still think that the thing must happen for Pog to be challenged in the tour is that Vinge reaches a higher level than he has ever shown before. Then maybe slight more tiredness can have crucial effect.

Yeah, I think by the tank stuff he means Pogacar had a monster classics campaign. As for overconfidence, Peiper knows the guy like few do, so I guess he's right to some extent. Peiper gave some past examples but this year maybe he means by this the spring schedule, as for the Tour itself Pogi obviously regards Vingo as a big threat (definitely no neglect).

He was cruising. He is no longer that young and reckless rider who attacked every hill. Now he seems more cautious.
Agreed. Tbh, i have seen all the big guns well. But none able to respond to the accelerations and climb the hard sections at 15% just sitting and cruising... with almost the mouth closed. If all have made a good impression on me, Pogacar scared me

All in all, good day for Pogacar. No crashes, stayed alert near the front and gained a bit of time. He didn't decide to attack on the steepest climbs (maybe because of the wind or simply saving himself for key stages) and a loss to MVP in a sprint is nothing to worry about.
I would like to see him attack but it is what it is. Maybe he is conserving energy until Hautacam.

2nd place today. Looks like he might not be as explosive on a finish like this as when he was at his spring weight but that's to be expected.
The final km was at almost 4%. It was always going to be a challenge to beat MVDP there, even if Pogi was at spring weight. All in all, he did well today. Gained 2 secs on Jonas. I think the headwind on the climbs dissuaded him from attacking.

Think the actual sprint was under 4%? With Van der Poel having had a bit of a recovery period, Pogacar is just not gonna win that sprint. Van der Poel even did the lead out himself.
