In other news. Tomorrow will be the first time we'll see Pogacar wearing the polka dots jersey at the TDF.

That's not true is it? Pretty sure I remember him in Polka Dots at one of the later stages in the 2020 Tour before the famous ITT.

You're correct. He wore it for one stage on stage 18. I assumed he wore white as he was the leader in that classification as well. I'll edit my post.

Narvaez and Wellens were positioning Pogacar during the last 40 km. Politt should be there too.

Looked like he was on donkey duty. Spending most of the stage between the cars (like many others). The usual rain jacket chaos.

Maybe they are saving him for monster pulls in the future, specially with Pogacar wearing yellow (if he is able to wear yellow after the TT).

I love seeing so many people who criticized Pogacar for sprinting two years ago, because he was supposedly anxious and wasted energy, now saying that Vingegaard transmits more power for attacking any hill.

How opinions change depending on the rider.

Pogacar has decided to keep this version for spring. In the Tour, he'll attack in the mountains. The same thing happened in the Dauphiné. On the first day, they said Pogacar wasn't that strong because Vingegaard attacked and almost beat him in the sprint.

People don't learn. Le Lioran, Amstel, Dauphiné...
You have to watch the entire race, and Pogacar seems to be going very easily.

Still very good, looked quite explosive. Losing to MVDP on this kind of finish is no shame.

Last year he lost againts Narvaez and Schachmann, this year against VDP. He's making progress

I'm not talking about winning or not. But about how he was criticized for sprinting because it supposedly wasted energy and was synonymous of anxiety, and now it's being marketed in a positive way.

It looks like his 100th victory won't be at rainbow jersey. Unless Benjamin Thomas scores points tomorrow. There's only one climb that counts.

Still looking easy and definitely super relaxed as Michael Matthews has said.

Definitely showing great confidence in what he has in the legs for the real mountains as he is not chasing all over the place as he was in his earlier years.

The mind games between Jonas and Tadej have been great fun and they look far ahead of the rest just like most of us predicted.

While working for TNT in the studio he said he has been on training rides with Pog in recent weeks and he has never seen him more relaxed than now.

Absolutely he is but Matthews is pretty much his best mate in the cycling world (other than Urska) so I would value his verdict on this.

Politt drops a bit early so far and was a non-factor in the echelons. Yates is saving himself potentially (but really unimpressive year so far). Soler I haven't seen all race. Sivakov is awful and got dropped like a stone twice (also saving?). All in all not very impressed.

Sivakov and Soler don't look good but I believe both will be way better in the mountains. This team is built for the mountains.

Pogacar has always preferred to rely on 1 or 2 guys to position him on stages like these.

We'll see full mountain trains by UAE and Visma when they finally reach the Pyrenees.

Politt will magically be a mountain goat when it needs to be. Narvaez and Wellens is enough for these stages. Yates saving himself. Soler probably too. Almeida was strong today. I’m not worried about his team strength.

If you have 7 riders in front of you while fighting for the front spots you get swarmed on both sides and you’re already way back in your train. It’s okay like today.
